Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Winter's Coming, Group Buy Ideas?

No doubt about it, 35 degrees here this morning. As the weather cools thoughts of a new winter bike building project starts. Anybody have any input on components, frames or bikes they would like to see offered as a group buy? I know Soul bikes was talking about setting up a group buy on aluminum frames a while back.

We should tell 'em to forget the frames and offer up those 42mm rims...

How about a GB for a Pedal Force carbon fiber frame? The last one was a really nice color scheme and it seemed like about 1/2 off the regularly cheap $800 price.

I'd be tempted, if I can hide it from my fiance ("Oh honey, that's just a stand for my bike, so I can save money doing repairs myself"

A road bike rider's commune? I'd give it 3 days before we would have our first homicide.

Here's the Soul 40mm clinchers. I wonder what kind of price we could get?

Aren't the Soul 4.0 already pretty cheap?
Groupsets would be my ideal; I missed out on those cheapo SRAM deals.

How much cheaper were the SRAM deals in the GB as compared to the deals found on Ebay?

Sunlight and dry roads. I'll make the rest work swimmingly. Having said that, some nice deep (30+mm) section 32h AL rims would be nice.

No offense, but I don't get where you're coming from. Using Ebay to get a lower price on any item is possible, so by your logic why should group buys exist at all if everyone can just get things off of Ebay?
Again, I just don't understand what point you're trying to make.
