Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Scattante Build up w/pics

Say what you want about Performance, and their house brand "Scattante", but it makes a nice bike!!
I have about a hundred miles on it so far, and I am still dialing it in.
Rides great, and I would recommend one of these frames. It doesn't have the big name, but still works great.

Frame and Groupset: Scattante XRL + Shimano Ultegra
Frame size : 54 cm
Fork: Scattante Carbon w/ Al steerer
Crankset: Ultegra 6500 Double Octalink
Chainring combination : 39-53T
Crank length : 172.5 mm
Derailleur Front / Rear : Ultegra 10spd
Cassette combination : Ultegra 12-25 10spd
Chain: Ultegra
Headset: Cane Creek IS-6
Headset Spacers: Carbon headset spacers
Headset spacer height : 10 mm (at the moment...)
Seatpost: Thomson Elite Setback 330mm x 27.2mm
Shifters: Dura Ace 10spd SIS Bar end
Cables: Shimano Dura Ace Derailleur and Brake Cable Set
Handlebar: Ritchey Probiscus AeroBar w/ 80mm drop
Handlebar width : 40 cm
Stem: Intergrated w/ bars
Stem length : Adjustable (currently 100mm)
Brakes: Ultegra (front and rear)
Brake Levers: Cane Creek TT200
Front / Rear Tire: Conti Ultra Sport
Wheelset: Mavic Aksium Race
Saddle: Sella Itallia Flite Gel

Nice looking bike. It looks just as nice as any of the other aluminum bikes that cost a whole lot more. Good job and good luck on the new ride.

I built mine a couple last month. I got a good deal on a 105 group with R550 wheels. I have about 300 miles and love it. Now I'm hooked on building, I bought a Flyte frame and plan on going with Ultegra on that one.

Don't show us those bars, now I will have to buy some and try them out. I also have a Scattante CFR (2006 model) and it has been a smooth ride for 3000 miles this year.

Any idea on weight and total cost? Looks very nice! I'd love to do a build one day.

Thanks for the compliments....Without the bag or bottles it is 18.8 lbs. Total cost after shopping hard between Performance, Nashbar, and ebay was about $1200 ~ $1300. The bars are great, almost too much adjustability, though. You can change EVERYTHING, so it hard to not change too many things at once in the effort to dial it in. All in all, it's comfortable and fast.

I've never seen a cable adjuster like you've got on your RD. What is it?

Nice bike. I built up the same frame as a road bike with sora for a friend to ride. It's a good frame for the price.

It's a rollermajig
They have been on my bikes for a while now....eliminates the big cable loop and makes shifting crisper and quicker. I highly recomend them.
