MKS clipless pedals.

So one of the bikes I recently purchased had a set of ATAC pedals. Having always been an Eggbeater man, I was curious to try them but needed cleats. These MKS pedals on massive closeout are supposed to use a compatible cleat. The scutllebutt on these pedals is that the bodies are mounted wrong and that's why they cost less than a pair of cleats. 5 minute job to swap bodies, 9mm socket/6mm allen.

Questionable Idéale 80 saddle...




Questionable because of the padlock on the rail, which I tried to pick but couldn't so instead made quick work of with an angle grinder. Saddle was pretty crusty, and theft is not worth the $45 I spent on it, which would be more like $30 after deducting shipping, taxes, and Evilbay fees. I thus reckon it was legit and not stolen. And just happened to have a padlock on the rail. Whatever!

Mainly, I bought it because it came with the grail clamp!

After a long wait, thanks to Wesley, I finally received this. It will need a full service..new bearings and another axle etc. I put the tubular on that I got from Dave, AKA Mad Honk. The braking surface needs a good cleaning but is serviceable....but it's a start. After the rebuild, when it's all done I know exactly where it will reside.

It needs a correct axle and freewheel.

I received a very unexpected surprise in the mail today from Mad Honk .....I really don't know what to say other than I owe you and thank you very much for your genorosity....I feel like a moocher.

I have been wanting to add shift cable stops to a frame. A few days ago I was working on design ideas and getting as far as dimensioning a drawing for a clamp to hold the cable stop for brazing. As I'm drawing I was envisioning the process steps to make the clamp and was adding up the hours that it would take. Then I realized that with my limited time, that it should be spent doing better things. I looked up Cobra Framebuilding and ordered this. It was in my mailbox in two days. We are in the same state, so that helps.



All nicely finished for $45. Joe from Cobra Framebuilding has a YouTube channel that I have spent hours watching. I love his enthusiasm for bicycles, framebuilders and machining. So, this was money well spent.

Joe looks to be a master of CNC machining and his bicycle framebuilding tools reflect that. This is a shameless plug for a guy that I think deserve it.

Check out the surface finish, the edges are all finished and the engraving of the COBRA lettering is perfectly finished. The screw is made specifically for this clamp.

I like that the straps are still being made but last time I went to get them here in town, nobody had them and the one place tells me they will always stock them couldn't tell me if they would have them again.

Of course I went straight to efbay and and got 4 sets for a couple dollars less per pair w/free ship.

Hate it when this happens but here we are.

I got these today....I hope they are good tools and much better than the flimsy plastic T handles at H.F. that I bought in a moment of weakness last week, we'll see.

BTW the H.F. T's are going back.

You should not be disappointed, Bondhus have been some of the best in the business, not sure about current production but probably still better than most.

I have older Craftsman and Bondhus long ballend, if anything is a loose fit, I get the Bondhus and they work well everytime.

First parts are coming in for the Koga-Miyata Traveller. One rim and a saddle. I really like the Lepper Tourer, I have it on two bikes already, but unfortunately the company has gone bankrupt last year and won't be making them again.
That does mean they are relatively affordable at €40-€60 for a full grain thick leather saddle. Though this one has more of a suede look.
The Ryde Zac 421 is a wider and stronger version of the Zac 2000 which should work well with the 40x622 tyres I plan to use them with. What their own website doesn't show though is that they are double eyelets in a sense. There is a stainless steel eyelet on the outside with a glavanised steel "sleeve" going to the inside of the rim.

I did mean to buy two rims... but apparently I forgot to add the second one. So I just ordered the other one and added some small parts that I still needed.

The shoe is a lightweight Palladium Pampa Travel Light in a size 46EU / 11UK / 12US that weighs a mere 275 grams (0.606 lbs) for a single shoe. I just thought it looked cool and should be a great shoe to just stuff in my pack for when I'm not hiking or riding.

Saw some wider sizes of Nittos bars start popping up on ebay. Looked around and saw some places were listing them as sold out until 1-22, so I jumped on one of the last 44cm at a reasonable price.

I've used it in the past and it worked well. The cans are smaller than the Continental glue. My last one dried out a little faster than I thought it should but that may be due more to where I left it. I bought it the first time because I needed glue and that's all the LBS had

I'm glad Christophe toe clips are still made! I'm sad leather toe straps are hard to find. I find that nylon straps are crappy. They become abraded quickly, and they're too floppy.
