Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Sounds like a lot of people should not have dogs if poop is all over the neighborhood.

Ive made appointments with three different people. All three have canceled within the hour of seeing it.
I don’t get it. Maybe when the stimulus money comes I will have better luck.

What about when their dogs are allowed to bark all night?

There is a dirt road called Westridge which is an access from an upscale area to the mountains north of West LA. There is so much dog do on it we called it the "Tour de Poop" when we rode up it. The stench is overwhelming and you have to slalom through it. We don't use that road anymore.

Now that is a nice looking road. Back in the 00's, the Northern California sub forum here was really friendly and did a lot of group rides of varying sizes. One of them was organized by a guy who lives in Half Moon Bay, on the other side of the Santa Cruz Mountains, so a LOT less inhabited. He took us on some of the back roads south of town and WOW, they were fun! Zero cars, good surface, great views, plus it was spring so everything was green.

Sadly, that subforum has been pretty dead for the last, maybe 10 years. No group rides and hardly any new posts anymore.

Studded snow tires. They're noisy and they make neat scratch patterns on the shop floor at the dealership.

Sorry, but I've never experienced anything like that happening - there's always warning/cause for concern. The conditions necessary don't just spring in to being - there needs to be enough icy precip to overcome the ground warmth and accumulate (certainly enough time to adjust) or the ground needs to be very, very cold, which means long stretches of freezing temps and little-to-no sun... and then a freak rain storm moves in. I can't fathom what that would have to look like, meteorologically, but it can't be completely without warning.

It's far, far more easy to easy to explain a pile-up like that with negligence.

There's an MUP running down the Peninsula like that. There's access to it about every 2-3 miles for about 10 miles. We used to call it Dog Poop Trail, and joke about the distribution - not so much at the gates, then growing to a peak about 100-200 yards in, then diminishing to nothing by one mile in, then growing again as you approached the next gate.

That picture is Glendora Ridge Road on the way up to Mount Baldy. The roads end at 6000 feet. On the other (north) side of Baldy you can ride up to 8000 feet on the road.
The same thing happened on the SoCal sub forum.
