Grady is likely your contact for a 58+ ride, and I can provide something in the 55-57 range if needed.

For my part, I'll likely be riding the condor (a retro roadie type). The only rule that will be enforced is enjoying the ride and the company.

Getting closer.
Given the current rules (see above post), I may ride my "not so vintage" C'dale. My newest build and I'm trying to get ready for the Sadistic Century. Sadistic Century | A fun and challenging 100 mile, 100k and 50k cycling event

The irony is that my old bike has been bastardized with Sora-like shifter/brakes. So I won't mock your Soras . . . unless they're on an undersized carbon bike!

I still holding out faint hope but I think my plans to attend will get trumped. It is the only weekend available for me to help my son reconstruct the porch on his house and he is 4 hours away :-(

If anyone local or in the area early wants to do something Thursday evening please post.

I'm tentatively in. Is there a chance the route would be available on the Garmin site for those of us who are cue sheet illiterate? It would be nice to ride it before hand and know whether or not I'll embarrass myself on the aforementioned hills. If not, that's cool too. I'm used to being the last one to claw my way to the top.

Heh Debit, please don't worry about the hills.

I'll be happy to join you.

As for the Garmin routing, Pete may have it but I won't.

I'm only riding with my iPhone nowadays.

I also use my phone for mapmyride based reporting of mileage and elevation. As for the difficulty, the route is mainly flat with rollers. A short climb or two, but they can be walked up without much delay.

If the weather allows, I'll ride the long course this weekend and post up the link to the mapmyride download. I doubt you could get lost if you have a garmin, since the roads are all mentioned on the cue sheet.

Hope to see everyone there. I'll post a few final specifics closer to the date, but we'll probably leave from Ramsey County beach (White Bear) at 9am.

Rode the long routes today and the map my ride info is here. I split the route returning from Stillwater to White Bear Lake into two maps since I started the loop on the south end. Fairly strong south wind today...

Long route to Stillwater from WBL (short route stays on HY7 and cuts off the Marine section)
Rode 31.73 mi on 6/6/15 on 06/06/2015 | CYCLING Training Log Entry | MapMyRide

First part of return route from Stillwater to WBL
Rode 11.55 mi on 6/6/15 on 06/06/2015 | CYCLING Training Log Entry | MapMyRide

Second part of return route, including after ride short link back to WBL beach
Rode 16.27 mi on 6/6/15 on 06/06/2015 | CYCLING Training Log Entry | MapMyRide

The good news is that the two worst roads of the ride, in terms of pavement condition, have been freshly repaved.

Any out of town riders I can bring a bike to lend. 57 or 58 check my signature (I will be using the C'dale) only problem is pedals, I don't have any good ones unless you can ride Speedplay X's or Zero's or bring your own.

I just spotted this thread, count me in. I've got a C&V friend that will be coming as well. This is more or less one of the routes we ride on Saturdays anyway. We've probably seen you guys out on the road before.

Welcome!

More the merrier.

It was so busy on the route to Stillwater last week I felt like I was on a bicycle autobahn.

I'm helping three friends buy new bikes this week. I can't believe how many people are riding in the metro area.

Exciting times for sure.

Are we riding rain or shine? I'm not afraid of melting but I'm not driving up from Eau Claire to ride alone.

I usually ride through just about anything.

For instance. It was 29 degrees on this day a few months ago and the wind was howling.

Notice the guy out on Lake Calhoun wind surfing.

I'm not quite to that extreme, but you get the idea.

Also, I had one of my longer rides of the year back in January.

Snowed five inches total by the end of the day. That was a total pain with those skinny Paselas on that Merckx.

So, no, I'm not overly concerned about the weather next weekend.....

Welcome to the forum, and you'll be riding with some of the best folks I've had the privilege to meet. You will not regret the ride or the company, or even remember which one was more significant. Then, that being done, see if you feel like migrating to the Dairyland Dare, we're having an actual C&V category inside a large regional and well-supported ride, dinner the night before, and free hookers. OK, not the hookers, but it sounded good when I typed it.

Consider this your one week notice. We will meet up just before 9am, and roll out by 9:15am. As for where to meet; right in front of the building shown below (at Ramsey county beach, on White Bear Lake, on the south side of highway 96 in WBL, about a half mile east of the intersection of 96 and 61).

Yes, we ride rain or shine. Hopefully more shine than rain. Maybe a good excuse to show off your C&V fenders.

We know TC vintage riders are tough stock, and a bit of rain is not going to dampen our spirits.

Nor would a little southwestern Wisconsin heat in August...

Polishing up the fenders on yon '78 Comp GS tonight, as it happens.

...anyone got a chain cleaner? I need to scrub out and put on some of this newfangled NixFrixShun stuff.
