My last question! :)

Many thanks for all the knowledge many of you have shared with me while rehabbing my tandem. After much fine tuning, all gears (front and rear) shift very smoothly. My last and only remaining issue is when I upgraded to a 7 speed cassette and installed the rear wheel it is off center by about 5cm. The drops measure 137 mm when measuring inside to inside without the wheel installed. My QR axle is 147 mm, so I have roughly 5 cm of the axle resting on the drops and they do NOT protrude beyond the drops. In addition, both ends of the skewers have a recessed area of about 2 cm to account for an axle might be slightly too long. My skewer springs are compressed in this space when the wheel is installed. So all things considered it looks like the axle and skewers are a perfect fit. When it is in the smallest gear there is a clearance of 3 mm between the chain and the drop. I don't think I want to reduce the spacer of the drive side.

To center the wheel I see my options being:
1. Get a longer axle and add spacers on the non drive side so it centers wheel between the chain stays then force the axle in place by stretching out the drops.
2. Have a LBS bend the chain stays to make it non symmetric.
3. Dish the rear wheel.
4. I installed new bearing and cones so its possible the new cones may be wider than the original ones. I'm not sure if I still have the old cones or not.

What is your recommendation?
Many thanks!

Can’t visualize this from your description. You need to post a bunch of pictures.

0. Flipping the wheel will tell you if it’s the dish or frame that’s wrong.
