Sometimes the steerer tube has a brand name stamped into the metal. It might be difficult to see now, with it painted. Even with it unpainted, I sometimes have to use a magnifying glass to see the stamped markings on a steerer tube.

I found the Reynolds stamp on the downtube, you're right it was difficult to read.
But I didn't notice anything on the steerer tube
and for sure now it's impossible to seek anything with the paint and lacquer

Wow, great job. I’ve got several bike frames stripped down and ready for paint. I only hope one of them turns out as nice as yours did.

Simply beautuful!

This is such a beautiful build. I'd be proud to own and ride it. Not cheap, but a a very beautiful bike and lots of great selections for components. And it just looks "right".

Thx

yes I have carefully selected all the components.
only the wheels are used, I had a great deal on them.

I ride it for a week now and I'm very pleased with the transmission.
I was scared that's the old Stronglight 49D crankset doesn't work with the 8 speeds cassette
but the gears shift like butter (don't know if this expression works in English )

Shimano Ultegra SL-6480 shifter works great with the Dura Ace 7700 rear derailleur on the 8 speeds Shimano cassette
I'm still waiting for a the specific cable guide stop to wiring the front derailleur and it will be perfect!

Works perfectly in English. Even better, put a New York accent on it -- "Like Buttah!"

And joining the chorus - excellent build.

that looks like a Motobecand Grand Record, which is one down from the Le Champion. Nice bike. Good for you giving it a new incarnation (in-bike-nation)

Ahaha! I'll remember this

According to the seller, the frame was built in late 70's by a French builder; Gérard Mongilardi
but there is any stamp of his name or serial number on it.
I know he also used some pre built frames from Galmozzi, an Italian frame building company.

Built some new wheels for sunny days :

HPlusSon Archetype with Dura Ace 7700 hubs
and Panaracer Gravelking slick 700x32

new crankset too, Stronglight Spidel 106 42/50
and MKS pedals.

This bike is amazingly smooth !

I noticed the sticker on the right thumb shifter says "Not compatible with Dura-Ace rear derailleur", yet you're running one...

Beautiful build, BTW! No expense spared.

Beautifully done, and a pleasure to read, thanks.
The only reason I found this thread is I was searching for 'Nitto Allrounder' handlebars.. which you list in the first post, but I don't think that's what you put on the bike...?
cheers -mathias

I believe this is the same color I used on one of my bikes, copied from someone else...excellent choice!

The warm colors of the tires on the cool color of the frame is quite nice. Your build choice is perfect.

the handlebar is a Nitto B245AA, several websites called it "All rounder"

the way to make a Dura-Ace rear mech work with Ultegra shifters is to change the upper
pulley with an Ultegra or lesser grade. The pully has more side to side movement.than
the Dura-ace.. b4 doing this I could only get it to hit properly (pully centered to cassette cog)
8 out of 10 times.
