Classic Gary Fisher mtb tandem
Saw this for sale on consignment at my local bike shop last night. Lots of cool, vintage parts, looks mid-80s. In really nice condidion too! Hope it finds a good home.

^^^^^ Saw ONE of those, ONCE, on CL. Sold within hours. Never seen one IRL. Not quite sure what the point is, given the wheelbase, but the cool factor is......

Biopace on the drive side with round timing rings. (or are they elliptical?) I wonder how that feels?
It's a beauty. We don't see enough Fishers here.

Tandem age.
HI. I have an '88 Montare XT with similar colouring and decals but it has a U brake mounted under the chain stays. Seems the bike pictured is a 1990 or so. If anywhere reasonable in price, probably a great find. This could make a pretty incredible solo touring rig if needing to carry a heavy load. ...and add some sort of assist for a solo rider under heavy load (gas, electric).

I owned one once. The first owner worked at a Fisher dealer, he told me it was the prototype bike. Rode it all over the Bay Area through 2 girlfriends, both great stokers, neither turned out to be "the one". One Halloween I left it unlocked in a fenced in patio at the apartment I was living in at the time, and the next morning it was gone.
Wish I still had it.

Unsticking seatposts.
HI. Yes, removing stuck seat-posts can be so difficult. Even cranks that have been seized to (last one I had to remove required me damaging the chain-rings, and using a harmonic balancer pulley remover and it was STILL difficult). On YouTube, there's "RJ bicycle guy" or similar that has a very good channel with lots of practical demonstrations of repairs and problem solving.
The image of the tandem shows "Grab On" grips or similar. These were stock, so this bike has been kept up beautifully or has been lovingly kept indoors.

Oh, I've seen lots of RJ's tricks. I esp. like the slide hammer trick. Unfortunately not an option in this case, as the passage between the seat tube and BB shell is just a small hole drilled in the BB shell. I really want one of those jab saw handles he found at his local tool flea market; that would be a viable option.

I almost bought one of these. The model name was Gemini, which I thought was very clever and appropriate for a tandem and I wondered why nobody had though of it earlier. They were introduced in 1989 and this one appears to be the 1989-1990 version equipped with Deore-II. Original MSRP was $1499 US.

I like the Fishers from that era but I think they screwed up that Evolution HS. I think the locknut should have had a few more threads.
