I have a collection of one, an old Legnano cap that is worn, stretched and faded but still works great...

That's the biggest loss from the Nashbar closure. They always had loads of cheap caps. I've at least a dozen from them over the years. ~5 yrs ago they had retro ones, including the above Legano, Mercier, and most importantly Team Z.

They all fit on me with their elastic bands....but I just look stupid in them with their microscopic tiny visors, at least compared to the width of my big head with my ears sticking out of them to add....

I've still got a Raleigh cap that I bought in the 70's.
It took a little longer to buy the Raleigh Team bike, though...

I don't have much of a collection, but this Clement cap gets a lot of regular use. I sweat heavily, so I like to ride with a cap under my helmet to keep the sweat out of my eyes.

Not a collector, but this sweetened the deal when I bought a Univega last year.

Reviving an old thread...

I never wore a cycling cap until I was given one as a "cyclist extra" in a movie ("The Racer", it'll be at the SXSW festival in March), so I'm thinking of getting one.

For those who wear caps: do you match up with the bike you're on, Bianchi cap for Bianchi bike, Colnago cap for Colnago bike, etc.? Do you have a selection to choose from, depending on your jersey / bike? Do you have one generic cap you use for everything, and if so, what is it?

I haven't worn a cycling cap in decades, but I don't recall ever having one that matched my bike. I can tell you that BITD you'd more than likely get ribbed pretty hard by your friends if your cap matched your bike. Campagnolo hats were the most common, and they did go with everything.

For sure, I already get dinged (and don't mind it) for being all "matchy-matchy", but I don't care. Mostly Bianchi stuff. I like the colours and polka-dots and fluoro pink... a lot of guys like to wear 50 shades of black and blue, and that's fine too. If I end up looking like something from a scene of "White Men Can't Jump", so be it.

Good idea on Campy; Columbus is another option, that'll go with anything. Functionally, a cap would be good for Spring days when wearing a full cap is a bit warm, but you need something to take the chill off.
