Marin Muirwoods 29er sizing

I'm looking for a new bike for the New Year - a 'do it all' daily commute (30 km) plus weekend off-road trips. I really like the look of the Marin Muirwoods, steel is my thing and it looks the definition of unpretentious - boring black, solid, dependable but hidden beneath this boring exterior a fun ride! BUT, the sizing is throwing me, i'm 5' 10" with 33" inside leg so at the M/L boundary. The bike looks to have a large reach so i'm inclined to go with the medium (17"). Any happy owners out there who can give me their thoughts?.......
