Twin Cities Bike Swap

I looked for a thread on this but I didn’t find one. Anyone going to the Twin Cites bike swap February 9th? I’m going pending the weather.

I’ll be there. And this year I’ll even bring some cash - no pretense about “just browsing” this time. Looks like they moved it to the auditorium next to the original spot at the National Sports Center. They have a page on Facebook where they do most of the updates.

I might.

Looking for a couple of older mtb items.

We'll see.

Maybe I'll have a couple of bikes in the bike corral just for grins.

I have gone a few times and picked up some items at good prices. I haven't gone the last couple years because I seem to have everything I will ever need in this lifetime.

I also don't need anything but I will be bringing plenty of cash and it's fun to get away for a bike related thing in winter and maybe get something to eat someplace new. I'm getting excited. I guess I'm easy to please.

I’ll be going. Last year I attended and picked up this Carlton Franco Suisse frame. There’s a thread about it here somewhere that I haven’t updated in awhile, but I’ve started hanging parts on it and will update soon. I still need a few more things. Hopefully I can find some more pieces this year.

I'll be there with my son... continuing the tradition. Don't really need anything, but always a fun and interesting event.

Been in N-1 mode lately. Thinking of passing along steward role for the Schwinn Prologue TT. Maybe I'll bring it down for the bike corral.

Weather is looking decent, but that depends on your buying/selling perspective. Last year major deals were available due to the snowstorm and low attendance.

This is the thread. I've been waiting for updates since you had it repaired!

Yeah- bad timing on all the snow. I'm not driving anywhere today!

I do want to attend one of these swaps eventually.

That snow is going to be a bear- We're in WI Dells with family right now- they have to drive up to St.Paul in a few hours. It looks like it's going to be big time ****ty.

That routing should prove challenging.

Luckily, less snow in the northern metro.

Maybe a few inches.

Blaine is in the northern metro.

I decided not to attend the swap.

Too much effort and I really shouldn't be buying anything.

In fact, who can recommend a local bike coop that takes donations?

I really don't enjoy selling bike related items anymore.

Perhaps a coop can generate some needed revenue.

One On One and The Hub were two that I know of. No real idea if they still exist as I haven’t really been that active around building lately.

What you moving?

I’ve accumulated some things waiting for a build but it just hasn’t came yet.

Thanks, I'll talk to Gene at One on One.

Maybe he does consignment.

As far as what I'm moving, a garage full of mtbs and commuters.

We don't use them anymore, so they are just filling space.

Other than that, the usual culprits you've seen before.

Nice.

I have a some things here and there waiting for a build but just not sure which direction I want to go.

Have an early Merckx professional that I’d love to get the poor powder coat stripped off but don’t know who would do that in town. A couple different group sets that I could throw onto frames pretty easily.

But I also want a 40’s-50’s racer to build or try my hand with a rando bike. Or just bite the bullet and get myself an Open. As you can see, I’m all over the map which is why I haven’t built anything lately. Ha!

But ya, you still have some frames I’ll probably continue to lust over...

I really thought long and hard about the Open, but I ended up with a deal on a two year old Stigmata.

Fantastic bike that really suits my need atm.

As for the framesets, I still have some beauties for sure.

However, I should probably see what the market is for them.

I really don't like to put up ads though.

We'll see....

I want an Open but to build to what I want it to be, I’d be into it for a lot of money (would likely go custom paint). I’d honestly probably have to part with all my other bikes to offset some of the cost and I don’t really want to do that yet.

I haven’t sold anything in a while but the last three bikes I sold (Cinelli SC, Trek 720, and Serrotta) I used the gal’s Facebook account and put them on the Twin Cities Bicycle Trading Post page and all were sold in a day. Much better luck there than CL.

There’s a pretty clean looking Tommasini SP on there right now, BTW.

Good tip on FB.

I'll post some items in the next week or two.

Just for grins.

Apparently the smaller venue and bad weather really hacked down the participation this year.
I didn't go, but a friend said there were only like a dozen bikes in the bike corral. A 24" Fuji Ace for $130 was tempting, though.
He also said Chris Kvale had a table.

I was bummed about missing it 2 years in a row due to the untimely snow storms. Other than tall quill stems with face plates I didn't have anything to look for but its always a fun event and I still haven't made it to the nearby brewery :-(

I could, I suppose.

I hate shipping whole bikes though.

However, I did sell an MB1 yesterday and they picked it up this morning.

Yippee.
