Atala Show and Tell - Let's See Your Atala Bicycles...
Many years ago, I was foolish enough to let this Atala go..,
and, to this day I wish I had not done so...
But I managed to replace it with the top dog from the 1969 line-up and very happy that I did so, even though I don't ride the bicycle (for good reason, I might add).
My 1969 Atala Record 101 Professional...

I would like, very much, to see other old Atala road bicycles, roadsters or anything else that is of Atala origin. Perhaps others would like to see them, also.

I still miss my gorgeous blue & white tretubi (531) Competezione, stolen on Labor Day, 1981. Rebuilt the hubs with clincher rims and replaced the execrable Campy Valentino front and GT rear ders, though. If it hadn't been stolen, I'd still be riding it.

1970 Super Professional. I finished building it up in the last month or so. It's currently my favorite bike. I have new decals which are awaiting a teardown and frame saver application.

My Atala. '64 Grand Prix. Currently looks slightly different as the bars were changed out for mustache bars. From here on out, this will be my gravel/trail bike. It's a hoot to ride, being the only bike in recent, and not so recent memory, that I've had both tires off the ground while riding. It will undergo some equipment changes after Cino though.

Does anyone else think this Professionisti SLX looks like a repaint? It doesn't even have a head tube badge.
These are the only pics I could find of that model (no clue if it's the same year):

Here's mine, as pulled from storage
I bastardized it for comfort reasons (haven't thrown out any of the parts, so don't freak out).

Picked this stray up at the local non-profit. I was actually there to pick up another frame, and this one wagged it's tail and followed me home.
The poor guy had a bad owner, someone bobbed it's tail. I could braze a new hanger on, but it'd ruin the chrome. This one's going to be IGH. The paint's bright and clean, but has several scratches. It's fully chromed under the paint, but kinda rough. Maybe just some new decals is what it needs.

Have a Atala Grand Prix bought way back in the early 1970's from Stuyvesant bikes in Manhattan. Upgraded the equipment to Campy Triomphe because the Valentino stuff was junk, etc. Looking to get it repainted and rechromed, will need decals etc. But where to get the decals? Also looking for one adjustment screw for the Valentino Extra rear derailleur. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

My first ten speed, the bike that got me into cycling as a love and a lifestyle, was an Atala Giro D'Italia. Gaspipe frame with crude lugs, Weinmann brakes, steel rims, crappy hubs and brake levers, Simplex Prestige derailleurs. It was stolen from me by force in the bad old days of New York City.
Several bikes later, a friend sold me an Atala Competizione frame set which had been repainted black. It was better, but it was twitchy. In fact, hitting a bump threw my hands off the handlebars once, sending my body over the handlebars in a painful incident. I can't blame the bike completely, as I don't really know what happened, but I decided to sell the bike. Here is my only picture of it, from about 1982. I see I had a Huret Multito odometer on it. I see there's one left-handed brake and one right-handed brake.

Atala Competizione
Here's my Atala Competizione which I bought new in 1973 for about $270-. It has gone unridden for may years but I hope to get back on it after I drop a few more pounds. Till them I'm riding a cheap "Target" bike which I did 2000 miles on last season and hope to do 3000 miles on this season. I'm thinking of setting up the Atala with a 10 or 11 speed cassette which mean I'll have to cold set the rear dropouts to widen the axle spacing a hair.

These pics were just taken a week ago. I purchased this all cromovelato frame from a small Italian bike shop in NYC in the mid 80's. For the following several months, I would basically live in Stuyvesant Bike shop in Manhattan slowly buying Campagnolo components to add. At it's height, it had all Campy C-Record components. I've since traded some of the components.

1973 and still not exactly sure of the model, due to the seat collar. The only decal not original is the down tube, which is likely wrong. It came as a bare frame and I built it up for my wife, so she could join the vintage party!

650c Atala
I recently built this 650c Atala for my son. I bought the frame from a shop in Italy. It was supposed to be NOS, but it looks like it had some use. There was no paint on the frame, it was fully chromed, but only the stays and fork were polished. I had it powder coated in a champagne color. It is a little big for the boy, but he will be ready for it come spring.
