One Bolt Threadless Stem
I was reading another thread and it mentioned no longer seeing one bolt threadless stems. I've never really given it any thought before, but I figured I'd ask if there is a reason to be concerned about safety. It is a steel stem and it is stays tight on the steerer when the bolt is loosened, I have to use a nickel and re-thread the bolt to spread it enough to move it, or adjust the headset pre-load.
Any thoughts?

Suppose if it was designed well, shouldn't be a problem. One bolt seat clamps seem to work, and they certainly have pressure put on them. Never saw a single bolt stem before the pic. Personally, I feel better about things using a 2 bolt stem tho.

The ones involved in the Salsa recall were single bolt but the graphics looked some different. https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2011/sa...to-fall-hazard

The OP's stem is quite similar to my custom Steelman stem, built in 2001 with a single bolt on both the steerer and bar clamp. Still going strong after 19+ years.
