Does anyone else think all these beautiful purple bikes (or any other colour) is way nicer than gun metal black or whatever other boring finish is on all these new bikes?

Still just a frame at the moment (been slowly working on this since April) but there will be purple!

'93 IBOC Comp (original purple paint under 1-2 coats of rattle-can paint I've since removed).

Montana 'Galaxy Violet' I'm going to use to paint the frame.

A new acquisition, though given the sizing I won't have it for too long. If only my spouse wanted a road bike. Custom built by Rob Stowe for the original owner who worked at a shop in the Adirondacks. Columbus tubes and dropouts. Shimano 600 group except for the non-functioning RSX sti shifters. Limited miles, and a wonderful pair of older label Panaracer Pasela 28mm Tour Guard tires.

I've gone from zero to two purple bikes this summer. Since picking this up, I'm reaching for it more than my more modern Niner....

I briefly had a 1992 Trek Antelope 850 in sour grape pass through my hands. Got it last December for $20 with a flat tire and balky shifting which I sorted. Sold in February since I had too many bikes as usual. It was a nice fit and maybe with a bit more room would have been a keeper. Nice ride.

I have the most purple bike of all time but since I am a newbie I am not allowed to post pics yet. I'll get it up before the end of august!

I know we're well past the end of August, but a quick follow up to my post above as the primer, paint, modified decals, and clearcoat are now done. Off to my LBS for a new headset.

h

ere is a Bridgestone MB6 I just rescued. I got it at the Bike Exchange as a frame/fork and built it up from there. Paint was very good. I did touchup by mixing Rustoleum Cobalt Blue metallic and Sunrise Red from my spray can collection, followed by a coat of Rustoleum Clear Automotive enamel. I have lusted after a set of Fat Franks since seeing them on bikes here and son of a gun, 2 pair were on the rack last time I was in the shop. I have also been wanting to see how easy it was to change canti brakes for Linear pulls. At the shop we are running out of motorcycle style Canti levers because we are converting a lot of drop bar bikes to uprights. There is a whole box of linear pull levers. These were especially tasty. I have sort of given up trying to fit used trigger shifters since so many of them are worn out. These Sunrace thumbies do the job fine. I actually like them better than most index shifters . The only thing better is the Suntour all metal index thumbies. Woof!

Igleheart is here in PDX now, great guy, builder and plenty more.

Wish I didn't have so many others ahead of him on the list that is not likely to get done either.

I may not still have this one come August so I'll post it now. Seen by the dumpster at the co-op and later grabbed at the request of Charles Wahl the frameset should be going to its new home soon. I'd have gotten it for myself but there's no space and this Nishiki Backroads is a near-dimensional-twin of my Schwinn Cimarron. And who among us in his right mind needs more than one of the same bike?

Only one new purple bike this year, a '93 Raleigh USA Technium RT600.
Reynolds 531 mains and fork bonded to aluminum lugs!
VERY dark purple!

Also a '98 Cannondale R1000 in Kamelion Blue. Depending on how the light hits it, it turns from green to purple!
You can just see the purple it turns to (in proper light) along the edges of this shot

and I still have these: https://www.bikeforums.net/21053975-post108.html

Both of my kids are riding purple bikes at the moment. My son will probably outgrow the Serotta in the next couple years.
