Schwinn Circuit fell into my lap.. Pinch me...

Been looking for one of these in my size for a while now. I had one before but it was too small. Great bike. I never imagined I would find one in this condition. It helps to be friends with a guy with so many connections in the bike business. Went to meet John, a bike forum member here, at a bike shop his friend owns that he was going to pick up three Paramounts that have been hanging on the wall for years. I got this one as well as some things from the basement. A Schwinn dealer sign, Schwinn T Shirt, Schwinn socks and a Chrome made Schwinn mechanic shirt. Pinch me I am dreaming. 1987 Schwinn Circuit, matte black, with Suntour Sprint, in amazing condition.

Very Cool!
Glad that the bike went to someone who would be properly excited about it! Love the SunTour Sprint parts; I'm probably a bigger SunTour fan than Raleigh fan, and I love my Raleighs.

Next time you see John, ask him if he has any buddies that sold Raleighs. I'm still thinking about a pristine Raleigh Mk IV Professional. (24 1/2", of course)

Steve in snowy Peoria (is it really spring??)

Wow! I really like that one, Steve. Time capsule. The extra swag is pretty neat, too.

Thank you. My wife told me I should not even ride it. She said it looks like it came right out of an 80`s catalog.

Thanks. Love Suntour as well. The Prologue is full Superbe Pro. Wait until you see the three Paramounts John purchased today, and his extra swag.......

That frame is drop dead gorgeous, one of the nicest Schwinn made IMO.

Love the component mix too, all original spec down to the Christophe straps, Royal-Compe brakes and bomb proof Rigida anno rims. I pulled the same group from a too-small Circuit and have them on a Gardin.

Here is the link to the video of the guy you mentioned that got the three Paramounts.

I am in love with the Wheaties Paramount he scored.

Me too. Drooling all over the floor on that one. All three are just amazing! The Shop owner is so cool. Lots of old Schwinn`s still hanging in the place. A beautiful 1956 Track Paramount, old Crate 5 speeds.

That matte black looks sharp

I saw one on CL a while ago but it was in rough shape, rust on the rear triangle chrome and based on the not great pictures it appeared most of original components had been replaced etc. You found a gem.

So jealous. Been looking for that bike in a 24” for a while. I managed to find a 23” (not nearly as clean) that I’m going to try to convince myself I can fit.

Are those the original wheels? I think i’ve got different rims: Araya 1W black anodized semi-aero (laced to Sprint hubs).

Thank you everyone for the kind words. I looked the bike over and I do not think it was ridden very much, if at all. It needs to be cleaned of dust, lubed and probably will just need new tubes and tires. If the tape cleans up enough I will not even have to replace that. I am just so happy.

The matte black and chrome sure look nice. The large chainring doesn't look like it's ever touched a chain.

SO COOL!! '80s Schwinns are some of the best Schwinns, IMO, with the late '80s ones in particular. And with a full Suntour group! That Sprint stuff is rare, especially in that condition. Enjoy it!!

Yes, mine came with Rigida HLC 2000 rims also. Seems that Schwinn at some point substituted rims other than what the catalog spec’d.

Steve, what’s the date code on your head badge? Also, if the bar tape won’t clean up, flip it over and rewrap.

For touch up on the black, I rattle canned a bit of satin black onto a piece of foil and then dabbed the scratches with a toothpick.
