I have searched ebay briefly, for original or anyone selling reproduction headbadges.

Have not investigated 3D.

Anyone got a lead?

Here's what I wish to have.



Paint on the frame is in good shape, so new reproduced, with care to the colors (if any) is acceptable.

Edit:
Calling you vintage Euro guys or anyone in USA with connections to the Ted Ernst family - to see if an original is available.

I don't know if he's still doing it, but I was able to commission rhm to make one for my Stella. It turned out great.

My first thought was a British TV show we've been watching - The Repair Shop. It has several very talented people doing repair and restoration of historic objects. Impressive talent. I wonder if such a person (maybe known to museums in your area) could restore your head badge. Ex: someone who works on historic porcelain, who has a great eye for color matching, durable finishes, levels of gloss, etc.

Or someone in the jewelry field that restores lockets, enameled pieces, trophies, etc.

Years back I worked at a company that used a Chinese vendor make some pot-metal, flat, "fake-cloisonne" badges (plastic filled, not melted glass) These turned out OK, vendor worked from vector files with notes and PMS colors called out. They could do a "short run" but the cost was high since everything is in the set-up, not materials. These outfits were mainly makers of pins, probably some are still in business.Might not be ideal for this final "curved" product but you could try that angle.

I did a little more research...and I think that you could look into 3D printing shops in your area and see if they will do a single in metal.
I am not sure of the cost but you already have an image that can be used to make a copy...cost may be prohibitive.

That Bainbridge bike shop might still have their Rickert track bike. If so, you could tool over there and take some pics and dimensions of the badge.

You will want to use Shapeways "metal". Cheap, bendable. Fill with paint. Other metal printing, the "real" stuff gets very expensive very quickly.

In retirement I want to get a mini-furnace for cloisonne. Plenty of how-tos on youtube.

The way I read the OP's question is that he does not have a head badge...if the one he posted is his a quick polish and paint would do the trick.

B. Replicate closely or stylistically recreate the shape and image

If I were doing that Rickert badge, I'd draw it up in CorelDraw (cuz that's what I use), ending up with black lines and black letters over a gray background. Then I'd use Shapeways' 2D to 3D app. The trick at that point is to get them to print the thinnest version of the badge possible. You have to trick the app, which isn't that hard to do Brass is pretty easy to bend to fit the tube. Plastic could look good, but curving it would be a challenge for me. Someone more adept at 3D modeling should be able to handle it

There is a jeweler in Philly whose name I've forgotten. I know she's on Instagram. @KonAaron Snake commissioned her to do at least one badge, and she did an outstanding job. Aaron, can you give her contact info?
