~1973 Nishiki Competition Step Through Completed
Been sitting on this forever and almost sold it unfinished but that didn’t work out. I dug in and got it ride ready and hoping it will go to a friend! A really cool bike, as far as step throughs go. Double butted chromoly, a mix of Sugino, Suntour and Dia Compe. All original except for the barcons, brake levers and porteur bars because I thought it was begging for them. Wished I could’ve to uted the brake cables under the bars but couldn’t get enough bend in the front although it still turned out ok.

Nice Work! Looks great! It's as tempting now as it was a couple months ago. Can I store it in your garage?

Since the first new road bike I bought for myself with my own money was a 1971 Nishiki Competition (American Eagle Semi-Pro), I have a soft spot for those, despite the mushy sway in the bottom bracket in both the standard/gents' and step through versions. When I worked at a bike shop in Santa Monica in the early 1970s, we tried to steer the rich ladies from Brentwood and Bel Air to the step through Nishiki Competition, to alleviate our perennial shortage of white Peugeot UO-18 mixtes.
I really like your use of barcons with those handlebars. (In fact, I like barcons, period.)

As for the bottom bracket, I threw a new sealed cartridge bb in there.
