Wonder how he repurposed the top tube? Maybe a towel rack for the meth lab? At least he reinforced the down tube with an attractive piece of metal. "Works good!"

What really keeps me awake at night is the thought that for every one of these "whacky" sellers on CL, eBay, FB, etc, is that there is a "whacky" buyer. Just the idea that there may be someone out there who would gladly shell out the cash for these bikes and ride off into the sunset makes me cringe.

Just visited the Kijiji page for that Raleigh missing the top tube... The listing says 26" rear 24" front. Look closer, and I don't think it's wrong. It's really using two (slightly) different wheel sizes. This is some crazy...

Death by barrel...
Title: SELLE SAN MARCO Rolls White Saddle NIB.
Description:
Condition is Used. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.
This is a barely used saddle. I believe the rails are steel so it is not super light. A very popular pro racing saddle from the past.
What the heck do people think NOS or NIB means??? 300+ transactions... I am so tired of clicking through to things that would be well priced, not a steal, if NOS but are overpriced since they are used, and scuffed.
Like someone's going to ignore the picture, and buy the used item anyway, and pay too much. Inconsiderate idiots. I wasn't even going to post a pic, but it looked a little "softened" This is w/ autocorrect only, no active making it worse on my part. Original below...
Rant over...
detail but zero modding below

Who knew that "chromloy" (RIGHT next to where he spells it in a way that at least makes sense phonetically....) was such an "expensive metal"? And just feast your eyes on those "lightweight composite parts", like the bigeffin' steel springs in the geezer-glide saddle.
https://madison.craigslist.org/bik/d...159315797.html
This is a 1980's Peugeot all of the parts are light weight composite the frame is all chromoly, chromloy is one of the most expensive metals used to build bikes, everything works,

I suppose NOS could also mean "Neglected Or Stressed"?

Old Fabuluz has outdone himself.

A $1400 Le Cyclo to go with your $700 lever. He has it advertised as the rare five-speed model, but it's only a four by my reckoning. Yes it's alu, and yes it's got cool grease nipples, but five should have a longer area between the cable "drum" and the jockey pulley. It's valuable, but it's not Nivex-valuable.

It's no mullet, but the price is funny. I'm half tempted to contact the seller and edumucate them. Then again, who am I to stand in the way of commerce?

^^^^ Pretty cool how he managed to spell Shimano two different ways within just a few words of each other. If you do contact him ask him what "peddle shafts" are.

questionable modifications: check
Backwards fork: check
crazy price:
Man, I was so close to wacky world bingo!
I like how the steering isn't linked, that should lead to fun times. I think a ball joint on the inside fork blades with a tie rod would solve that, though.

That fork is a 24" as well, off a box store BSO like a Huffy or Magna.... Looks to me like someone stuffed the Raleigh into the back of a parked car and severely bent the wheel, fork and top tube. They cut out the bent top tube, realigned the head tube and bottom tube and "reinforced" the frame then installed a fork and wheel from something the grabbed off the curb on trash day which happened to be a 24" bike. The real question here is, "Why bother?"
