Is this a road wheel or a MTB wheel?
Hi to All,
I am sourcing the parts for a new build and have been looking for a 650c wheel for a Bertoni TT (frame thanks to straightblock with build pics to follow) I came across this in my stack of wheels....is there a way to determine a road wheel from a mountain bike wheel?
The rim width is quite narrow (see pics below) and a regular Shrader valve won't fit.
Shrader a no go.
Seems very narrow, my other road wheels are a tad wider
Another question, when searching the web it seems like tire dia can vary..what's the difference between the 650c, 650b?
Any insight/s are greatly appreciated.
Best, Ben

That would be one very svelte and graceful mountain bike.
American inch size balloon tires also have inch size wheels. We've just all agreed to call them by their metric sizes. A 26 inch tire has a 22 inch = 559 mm bead seat

650b and 650c have different rim diameters. And neither were used for vintage mountain bikes.
650b: 584mm
650c: 571mm
26": 559mm
650b: 584mm
650c: 571mm
26": 559mm

I have to look for them tomorrow, but I think I still have a pair of Sun 650 rims around I can make you a deal on.

Mavic made MTB rims from the same extrusion as the MA-40. I have a fabulous pair of pretty skinny CampI MTB rims

Well....there are MTB versions of the MA-40 (and MA-2, which is the silver non-anodized model) but they didn't come from the Mavic factory that way. Keith Bontrager took apart 36 hole MAs, cut them down and re-rolled them as a 32 hole rim.
