It is a Trek bike one of those not a hybrid not a mountain bike but heavy and sometimes clunkier. Typically they have low travel front suspension typically of lower price point. The DS4 looks like it has an OK Deore drivetrain which means more reliable shifting but it is not a mountain bike. I would rather have a hardtail in this situation, more tire clearance and ability to go seriously off road. If I wanted a hybrid I want something lightweight with wide tires and no need for suspension if I need suspension I am going off road or maybe for an e-bike at higher speeds.
