Bianchi Mixte

Wife's Bianchi Mixte

Picked up this frame 5 years ago for $30 and unfortunately it's been sitting neglected in the shed since. Thought it would be a fun build and ride for my wife whose been gradually riding more as a result of the coronavirus lockdown.
Built it up with parts I've had on hand. The wheels are wolber profil with mavic hubs. The brakes are mid size and comfortably fit the cheap 35mm kendas. Gearing is via an lx 8 speed shifter and 105 long cage derailleur. The chain protector is an old 53tooth chainring I modified and polished.
It is surprising light and sprightly given its geometry and setup. The stem is a cheap Raleigh and the handlebars were a $5 used purchase. The frame was a bit beat up and well used. It was touched up but may go in for a powder coat this winter.

Nice! Big mixte fan here.

I would criss-cross the shifter cables.

I would also experiment with mounting that rear brake in front of the brake bridge, to see if that makes the cable routing smoother. If you do, make sure to flip the shoes back around the right way too.

It appears to be a Canadian market, Japanese manufactured, Bici I frame, circa 1983-1984. I forget the proper name for this frame style but technically it's not a mixte, as on a mixte the mid-stays extend all the way from the rear dropouts to the head tube. Regardless, nice build.

Doh! Right you are!

But you could still run the one cable around the head tube to the left cable stop, then down to the right guide, for a smoother cable run. Half of a criss-cross, essentially.

Just nit-picking really. The bike looks sweet!
