Upgrade the bike, or buy a new bike?
Hi all,
I'm at an indecision.
I have a 2018 Diamondback Atroz 2 with a few upgrades, pedals, grips, Debonair rear shock and nice tires.
But, the brakes are starting to lose their punch.
I'm sure I could just swap pads out and would be back to normal, or I can upgrade to perhaps to some M8000 brakes from Shimano.
Or, I could buy a new bike (The Diamondback Release 2 is on my radar).
What would you guys do in my situation? The bike rides great, pedaling isn't the best, but otherwise it is in great shape.

For brakes the first thing would be to install larger rotors. 203f/180r.

Any thoughts on putting a lockout shock on the back to help with long climbs?

Even if you got a new bike it would still have to be maintained. If you have your eyes on a better bike, maintain this one rather than upgrade, and save your pennies.

Needing new pads is not a reason to get a new bike.
AFAIK, the only way to get a lockout on a rear shock is to get a rear shock with a lockout. Personally, if my bike had a suspension design that made me want a lockout, I would probably end up getting a different frame or bike. I have not used or wanted a rear lockout in over 15 years.

if they are hydraulic brakes maybe its time for a air bleed. that can give you a spongy feeling if there is air in the lines as well.
