Imperial Century on a Fat Bike

Last weekend, was fortunate enough to get my hands on a Trek Farley 9 from a LBS, to take for a spin. Ended up doing 105Kms with it through Toronto.

May have been one of the funnest (but definitely not fastest) rides I've done

Edit: Title should read "Metric" and not "Imperial"

Impressive time!

Either you are a strong rider or those Gnarwhal tires must be easier rolling than mine.

Among other cyclists, wouldn't consider myself a "strong" rider. I do a lot of long rides, but not really fast (and horrible with hills).

Was really impressed at how this bike rolled (when not in a headwind). Was doing 25-30kmh (15-18.6mph) in some straight stretches of road. Had the tires inflated to 12-15psi (which I was told after, wasn't a good idea).

Am I missing something, or is this about 56km shy of being an imperial century?

You'd be correct, it was 65 miles total. Ended up running out of time.

Damn, you now made me set a new goal for myself to do a metric fatbike century this summer.
I did imperial centuries, but with my hybrid.

I'm trying to keep my "streak" of months with a century ride alive. Usually I do them on my gravel or road bike. But with the snow that was here that day, there was no way. Plus gave me an excuse to ride a fat bike again.

By the way, it was about as much work (calorie wise) as several of my 200Km road rides, but in 2hrs less than those.

Just clued in and caught on. You're correct. It was a metric and not imperial.

I'm hoping to do a "longer" ride to Niagara and back on it this summer

But in the mean time, are there good trails down that way for riding in the winter?

Unfortunately, I have not been in decades, so I could not tell you how the trails are now, but I'm sure there are many resources out there.
A Bruce Trail map might be a good start.

I think it's where you enslave all the native peoples you encounter along the way, and force them to work in your factories producing export goods. Though I may be confusing it with an "Imperialist Century".

By my definition:
Metric Century = 100 km (62 miles)
Century = 100 miles (160 km)
Royal = 162 miles (260 km) - a century plus a metric century.
I love long rides on my Pugsley - I had to look back at my stats:
50-70 miles - 6 rides
95-100 miles - 3 rides
140 miles - 1 ride
Like the OP said, it's not fast, but a fatbike is a great bike for a long exploring ride.

(exploring = riding non-paved route)

Can’t really put up with more than 20 miles or so on my Pugsley.

You can ride 100k on nearly anything...but just because you can doesn’t mean you should...

Have not heard of the "Royal" .Hopefully this summer I'll get it (not on a Fattie though). Longest so far is 225,

Just did 110Km (68.3508 miles) on my new Kona Wo today. Thinking of going for a 120 miler next weekend with it.

Sorry, I have to ask as I’m new to fat biking but how come? Does it depend on whether you run tubeless or not?

Sort of, yes. The tires themselves said MAX 20PSI, But I failed to notice that there was a max PSI on the valve, which was less than 10 PSI.

As for why there's a different PSI for the tire and the valve, I have no idea (still new to tubeless myself)
