I might try the alba Hallo(must just its proper name) in the new year. My gold bikes been looking abit standard for a while now!!

Oringinally I had the bull bars ,jokacks and triaga brifters on the black mezzo without the dual drive and loved the lighter, simpler set up also.

I might try an internal geared bike or a sympthasdglgasbqwe geared crank thing in the future. Maybe even a modded Bromie, but they work out so expensive.

I think with an internal hub geared Mezzo if you reduced the front wheel spoke count ,(18 ish), the bars could go throuht the spokes. Giving a flush fold even with full sized bull bars.

I also wonder if the folding mechanism on the mezzo could just be swooped for something like the Dahon double handle bar clamp with the light in the middle(forget its name again!!)

The basic bikes arrived and so far so good. It arrived this morning before I set off for work so I took it with me today, the plus side was I like the feel of the ride and its great to have a broad selections of gears the bas is that it took a while to sort out the fold but I am sure this will come with practice and I think I will miss the front laoding lugagge of the brompton but I am sure I can sort out a reasonable alternative (messengar bag maybe). Think I might get ride of the kick stand as can't see much point when I can fold the rear wheel under instead.

Hoi chekmz

Enjoy the bike, I think a carradice tour is what you need for luggage. Sure a messenger bag is always handy, but in the end it is always more comfortable for me to have no bag clinging to me, but that is just my preference.

https://www.carradice.co.uk/index.php...&product_id=56

(and yes get rid of the gammy looking kick stand!)

Very nice.
is it 8 speed or the standard 4 still.
Jojacks tyres upgrade?
Very jealous of the ORI.
You are the only other person the world with a racing bar modded Mezzo!!!??

I Think a IGH is the way to go if you have the budget over the dual drive option.

Any ideas' on getting a more compact fold ?
I notice you used drops with lttle forward reach to improve this. Maybe if you took some height of the handlebar stem the brake lever would go over the top of the wheel allowing the stem to fold more.

Bhyte,

The ori comes with an 8 speed nexus hub fitted as standard on the mi8 so I just need new bars shifters and cables. I'm pretty happy with the marathon tyres it came with. I'm also happy enough with the fold as the train I take on is rarely very crowded. Glad to have joined such an exclusive club.

How is the gearing, I guess the under gearing problem has gone with the Nexus?

Nice bike, yes an Ori with drops saves a lot of effort over a D9 with dual drive.

The price here in Switzerland is about £600. I would be surprised if you couldnt get it cheaper else where. https://shop.velomarkt.ch/de/velos/fa.../ori_faltvelos

Mezzo D10 mods

I finally took photos of my Mezzo D10 with the alfine 11 speed hub, showing (I hope) the relocated Sokal clip which all works well.

Nice work - it is the best gear change in the world, isn't it ?

What chain tensioner did you use ?

I had an alfine fitted to a Jestream and had a lot of difficulty, most tensioners dont have enough horizontal offset to get the chain lined up, at first the bike shop put the rear mech back on and used that as a tensioner, but it ended up looking quite ugly, and with not very much ground clearance. In the end they found a single arm / wheel that did the job, much neater. If I was converting a Mezzo I would look for a rear triangle off of a D4, with a horizontal drop out, to fit.

Nice work . .

I want to ask about your wheel rack . . what kind of wheel you are using on the bike ? it looks slim and nice . . Does the bike can stand balance by using that kind of wheel rack ?

Its an adjustment issue usually.
Alter the grub screws settings on the stem.

I had this issue, only a small amount of movement but adjusting the grub screws worked. When making the adjustment the allen head screws holding the pin in place have to be slacked off enabling the grub screws to move the pin.

loosen the pivot allen keys and push it tight towards the closing cam. then tighen the grub screws to hold the pivot in this position. It should cure it.
If the grub screws are mot tight then the pivot will move to a loose postion again. Tighten up the pivot so moving the bars in to the folded postion is "firm", but not so tight they are locked in position!!
Hope this helps. Its a bit fiddly but in my experience the play can be adjusted out.
