I have a '92 stumpy pro with a noodle cable guide that is different that your guide, the noodle seems to make my cable hanger off center. How's the clearance on those tires? I was thinking it would be fun to have bigger tires.

The 2.3 fit really well. Near as I can tell 2.5 would be max width that would squeeze in. As for the cable yoke we do have the same Shimano cable style hanger, as for centring it someone with more knowledge will hopefully chime in and give us both pointers on how best to do that;-)
I ordered the chainring bolts from Zergstore on Amazon.ca

victorm Never ran into this style cabling. That is not saying much!
I would first make sure the length of the cables between the "yoke" and the caliper are the same. Two ways to do that, move the yoke or adjust the cable on the caliper. The other yoke cable is fixed in length. Hopefully you can adjust the clearance of the pads with the adjustment on the brake lever.

The noodle. Not my fave. At best, it hits "center" at an angle. What is happening in this pic is an interaction with Shimano's "EZ" something "straddle rod" which adds another curve to the cable, making it off center. It is lighter and uses heat on a thicker tube though.
A Dia-compe cable hanger and straddle wire will eliminate the last curved of the cable and allow one to have it centered. An option for Vs is to run a cable stop. IRD make a nice one.
I think the green bike is a 93; 92s had the cable stop, 93 had the noodle. I have a 92 (which I also confuse the year of) and my friend has a 93, this is from the 93 catalog.
An odd detail about the 92 is that the factory jammed a 27.0 seatpost in a 26.8 seat tube.

Ya not a big fan of the original cable yoke thinking of going to one of these. Any thoughts on which I should go with?

theres a thread for this: grail straddle cable yokes
i like the look of the dull silver shimano ones on right now and my brakes work fine but you could match your gold screws with a gold hanger and thats a good color with purple.
thanks dork, mine must be a 93, just didn't think of the color as grun/dunkelgrun but the components match, need an english copy of these catalogs and better scans

Love it; it looks like my RockHopper. Have you chosen a brake yoke? I like the golden triangle, my husband likes the Chill Pills. And are you going to do the fade? IMO it'd look amazing.

Thanks, fades out of the now that decals are on. Took a scientific bot and two out my three kids said leave it the way it is. Plus the paint I need won’t be available here for another month or two Blackfriars Clear from Spray.bike. As for the yoke think I’m just going to use the original Shimanomones. I’ve cleaned them up and they should look fine. I don’t need the bike to get more bling than it already is.

I'm with Korina I like the golden triangle. This is similar to (if not the same) as what Tektro uses on its CR720 (and you can buy the yoke/straddle cable) separately. I used the CR 720s on my 1992 Stumpjumper drop bar/resto mod because they're reasonably priced, work great, and easy as pie to set up.

victorm , I may be biased, but I like the brown. The Princess is sporting gum Rustine grips, a honey B17, and a handmade brown handlebar bag, and looks very classy. The gumwall tires help. As to which handlebars, I vote for the ones that are the most comfortable.

Even if it’s played out I think it’s very difficult for anything to beat a brooks (or ideale) and brown typically always wins out for me. Racing bikes are one of the few exceptions here for me, but even then a brooks pro or one of the other more narrow models is hard to beat aesthetically.

I will say I would ditch the more modern Deore logo on the cranks. If you want some crank candy I would do a little pantographing like the old XT cranks and just have Shimano on it. Would look swell.
Other than that the bike is looking excellent.

All cabled up, chain is on!
bikes all put together. Have Zee cage on the way and considering perhaps muddy brown Oury grips, perhaps black not sure.

Frame bag
I found the frame bag on a bike that had been discarded at our local metal recycler. It was beige color and badly sun faded. I painted it black and it looked ok but when it was on the bike it was just a black blob to me. I enlisted the help
of my daughters and their collection of nail polish to give it some colour. Really happy with how it turned out.

W o w. Well done victorm ! With that build, black grips would be quite appropriate. So, how does she ride??
