Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Cannondale track question

Just a question about this frame. I buyed bike to get crank for my daughters bike, however as my daily ride bb broke I had to ride this to work today. It seems to have a huge amount of flex - like when putting some pressure on pedals you can see drive crank bending relative to chainline and chain creaking. My daily ride is SG75 on KHS Aerotrack steel which never has any flex. Is this normal? Is it just a flimsy frame or is it crank or bb - I assume Campag record crank stiff as I have on my road bikes and no problem?

I do frequently hear that the Record Track cranks are a bit less stiff but I haven't used one myself. I have always looked at them and said "my those look nice, a bit skinny but nice" However it could be a mix of both crank and frame.

Perhaps wheelset or tires? You are seeing visible flex? While sprinting or on hills? Or is it more a feel? Keep us posted.

Was on hills, could look down and see it flexing. Investigated further - rear wheel and cog are real cheap and cog doesn't even look round. Will swap wheel and cog in the weekend. Solution for todays commute - soviet steel with SG75 cranks and leave Cannondale at home.
