Yes me too. I am sorta new to biking and didn't know what to get so we got Treks. They are on the lower end of their line but they have been fantastic. No problems in 3 years

I'm at the high end. 5 years and 23,000 miles without a single problem.

My first "real" race bike was a '00 5200, with 9-speed Ultegra and Rolf wheels. Couldn't swing a dead cat without hitting a 5200/5500 back in the Oughts. But it was a heck of a bike. It was totally raceable right off the bike shop floor. Got to Cat 3 on that bike.

Two bike stores in town, one Specialized, one Trek. I can't stand the Specialized store owner. I wouldn't buy an inner tube from them. While the mgr. of the Trek store is great guy and avid rider. Get along great with him.

Hence, I ride Trek.

But the real question I have is, WTF do you even care what brand of bike other people ride?

Subject to correction, but: I believe Trek stopped manufacturing frames in the U.S. a couple years ago. The bikes are designed in the U.S., and the high-end stuff is prototyped in Waterloo, but the actual production runs are done overseas. Dunno whether the 'custom' high-end bikes are painted/assembled in Waterloo or not, but the frames aren't made there any longer.

Heh. My situation is the reverse: I ride Specialized (and Giant) because that's what my lbs carries. The 'Trek Store' here is about a half-step up from Wally World, and two steps below MEC (= REI) when it comes to knowledge/service etc.

Absolutely nothing wrong with the bikes themselves.

Agree on real question.

Guilty as charged. I have 4 Treks. 2 road bikes and 2 mountain bikes. These bikes have served me well and I like the support of my Trek dealer/LBS.

My 2015 Emonda SLR was manufactured in Waterloo.

Makes sense. Trek certainly were manufacturing high-end frames in Waterloo then, afaik. Still pretty sure, though, that all production stopped in '17 or '18.

Madone SLR 9 Disc eTap

$12,499.99

You've got to be kidding me... Even if I won the mega-millions lottery I'd have a hard time dumping that kind of moolah on a bike!! They're nice looking at least.

IKR. Electronic shifting. Disc brakes. Giant "Trek" plastered on it. Crabon fibre. The only thing the bike has going for it is that it's red. Red bikes are faster. Other than that, I'd buy a BSO before I bought that think.

They don't advertise this fact much, do they...??? The last I heard was that they still made the Project 1 "custom" bikes in Waterloo, but every time I nail down the reduced manufacturing scope in Waterloo, they reduce it further the next year. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that it is down to nothing now.

Oh well, you can still get a Waterford made down the street in Waterford, WI.

I don’t ride Trek. Maybe I want to know why so many folks do. Maybe I need to switch.
