My first "real" race bike was a '00 5200, with 9-speed Ultegra and Rolf wheels. Couldn't swing a dead cat without hitting a 5200/5500 back in the Oughts. But it was a heck of a bike. It was totally raceable right off the bike shop floor. Got to Cat 3 on that bike.

Two bike stores in town, one Specialized, one Trek. I can't stand the Specialized store owner. I wouldn't buy an inner tube from them. While the mgr. of the Trek store is great guy and avid rider. Get along great with him.
Hence, I ride Trek.
But the real question I have is, WTF do you even care what brand of bike other people ride?

Subject to correction, but: I believe Trek stopped manufacturing frames in the U.S. a couple years ago. The bikes are designed in the U.S., and the high-end stuff is prototyped in Waterloo, but the actual production runs are done overseas. Dunno whether the 'custom' high-end bikes are painted/assembled in Waterloo or not, but the frames aren't made there any longer.

Absolutely nothing wrong with the bikes themselves.
Agree on real question.

Guilty as charged. I have 4 Treks. 2 road bikes and 2 mountain bikes. These bikes have served me well and I like the support of my Trek dealer/LBS.
