Sequoia ride, only ~40 miles, but ~6000 feet of climbing up to almost 7000 feet. Confronted by 2 large German Shepherds in 2 separate incidents, within 10 minutes of each other, had to get off the bike both times and yell at them, but it didn't ruin the ride, no human flesh was consumed, and the adrenaline was welcome.

Cloudy and in upper 30s up on top, only a few small patches of snow at 7000 feet, not good for this time of year. Only wore long sleeves and shorts, so I froze on way down, but was extremely comfy going up, so it was a decent trade-off. Hadn't even planned on going all the way up, but I found some Gatorade powder in my bike bag, and that gave me a couple more hours of bonk-free riding.

It's a tiny little pond, there is a second slightly larger one just down the road, shown above. I think they do stock the ponds, since I've seen people fishing there. Not sure which kind of trout. It's actually Tulare County land as opposed to National Forest or National Park, so the restrictions are fewer and you don't have to pay to get in.

I do admit though, it would be cool as heck to ride up there and catch a fish and eat it.

These are the two roads ridden, very nice area this time of year, and virtually deserted.

a coolish 35+ miles over to city heights and down south to tacos el gordo in chula vista for some essential pork adobada tacos for a late lunch. back up harbor drive into dtown
san diego and up to balboa park then home. rain threatened several times but didn't commit. last week of riding has been an exercise in either trying to navigate shortish rides in
between rain patterns or just saying bleep it and going whilst the hard rain is a fallin. this week looks to be more of the same for the coast/foothills/mtns. twere it going to be really
nice somewhere in socal, i'd probably drive for a 4 hr round trip spell at least one day. forecast is looking a little better for the deserts (temps in the 70's for death valley but not
feeling a 12 hr round trip drivefest currently even tho i love riding there). maybe i'll hit borrego springs or palm springs this week...metro san diego area/roads were understandably
and mostly devoid of traffic.

Sunday I rode gravel at the Wetlands park about a mile from my home in Eastvale. It had rained all night and the gravel was nice. I did however venture onto a clay based dairy farm road to traverse a couple gravel trails, and that was a bad, bad idea! The clay was 50% dirt and 50% quick setting epoxy. A mess to clean up, but fun was had!

50 miles around metro san diego plus a little spell over in coronado. rode past all the old grub & grog faves but with
the exception of nado gelato in coronado, they were all closed or under super-truncated service offerings. coolish
but plenty of sun about to temporarily dry things up until tonight. lots of (dog) walkers and cyclists out. vehicular traffic down by
at least 50%.

Did another local hills ride around Whittier-La Habra Hgts-Hacienda Hgts. About a dozen cyclists out today including a couple of dads taking their daughters out on likely their first bike rides on bikes with training wheels. Riders are reluctant to talk and most just wave or nod their heads.

trying to get out every day since, well, you never know..a couple of punchy efforts but mostly just happy to be out. a little over 11 flattish miles very late afternoon post-rain with drying roads.
a dangerous no-no stretch riding into the sunset but since there were almost zero cars, it wasn't an issue for once. just bopped around the neighborhood and balboa park.
crisp and clear and the sunglasses detected a burgeoning rainbow tto the east that the naked eye couldn't but didn't stop to wait for confirmation. mid/upper 50's during 6:10pm-7pm ride time.

30 miles around balboa park, downtown, old town, mission bay/fiesta island, mission valley, kensington and normal heights.
tallied 92 (yes, i actually counted them out of curiousity) cyclists of every age and ability along the way.

Thought I'd see how much the coronavirus has effected traffic on Saturdays by going out on my regular weekday AM 6-mile loop circuit for a 4AM-5:30AM pre-dawn ride. If I do this on Saturdays I'll usually see 10-20 cars per loop. This morning I only saw 6 cars over three loops! Wow! Added an extra 2 miles to make a 20 mile ride for the morning, and finished before the sun even started to rise.

Shelter in Place? Not working. Saw about 25 cyclists either climbing or descending Turnbull Cyn today. Stopped counting on the SGRT and Santa Fe Dam once I got to 100 but encountered at least 250 cyclists today on a 100KM ride. Everyone was keeping a safe distance and for the most part were not talking. Waves and nods. Who knows what the future holds in CA?

^similar experience today as well. 82 mile ride from north park area over to mission beach boardwalk which was okay for a spell but then started to bottleneck with skaters/joggers/wakers/cyclists
so bounced outta there and headed up the coast to encinitas, then east through rancho santa fe and del dios hwy...then crawled down the 15 freeway corridor back to mission valley and then home.
imho...people seem to be more likely to observe the 6 foot social distancing rule indoors vs outside.an absolute ton of cyclists out along the coast. vehicular traffic super-reduced everywhere i rode except
the mean streets of rancho santa fe. go figure.

Didn't see any more cyclists than I would typically see on a sunny Saturday afternoon (probably 15-20 over the course of 2 hours) but the reduction in traffic (as I've posted elsewhere) is zero. I would honestly say there are more cars on the road than the same time one week ago.

Rode the same route on both Tuesday and Friday, and there was significantly more traffic on Friday, after the supposed "order." The only thing that is going up in number is walkers. People out walking is probably up 500%.

agreed. tons of peds with many of them with woofers. thinking many of them are taking multiple walks (vs just the usual morning/evening one) with said woofers. some of those dogs are starting to look really familiar...

My first ride since open heart surgery early February. Did several one hour spins on stationary before they closed the gym. I am supposed to stay off the bike for another two weeks because falling is especially dangerous until sternum heals well enough. Wife would kill me if she knew I went out, but walking is difficult due to foot injury. Running? Fugidaboutid.

Did just a few miles on the San Luis Rey River Trail. Saw fewer that half dozen bikes, about ten walkers/joggers.

63-miler from metro sd down to national city, up to lemon grove and continued ups to la/jah mesa and santee, then west to san carlos/del cerro/college area before settling in
around talmadge, kensington and normal heights. a few cyclists on many of the obscure streets i traversed but a far cry from the beaches i rolled through yday. mission trails
regional park/mission gorge was a hot mess tho with oodles of poodles...err...people. social distancing, my assets.

another 60-miler south from metro san diego around the bottom of the bay and up to coronado and back with a few little sidebars.
social distancing or distant socializing more evident but it wasn't the weekend. decent amount of cyclists out. low vehicular traffic.

45-miler in the escondido/lake wohlford area. pavement at the bottom of lake wohlford (first half mile) is pretty wretched. ascending it is doable but i'd be really
really careful on that last part of the descent. some big chunks of asphalt missing. pavement improved on the ascent (and descent) once around the corner and
you can see most of the remaining ascent and was newish once north of the guejito road intersection. woods valley road heading west was a blast as always. lots of
debris in the wide shoulder on the descent of valley parkway. originally planned on riding harmony grove road and looping around to climb double peak and descend
to csu san marcos and see how i felt. come to find out harmony grove is closed until 3.31 and from what i could see, it could be longer. blew off the original intention and
utilized the handy dandy escondido bike path(s) that goes from harmony grove road all the way to el norte pkwy (about 7 miles) and then to lake wohlford.

105 miles today while working on the easiest century route in san diego area. beaches, mission bay, coronado. coolish and not
too many people out. some nice views but zero excitement.

40+ miles in the ample wind around metro san diego. if i didn't have march riding goals and wasn't close to achieving them, i woulda watched godzilla movies all day.

haven't rode all week but on my last actual ride I did a ride starting from Corona then to Indian Truck Trail which takes me up to Santiago Peak, It was a bit snowy at the summit. It averaged 7-8% for about 11 miles, I almost headed back home halfway up, I had to give every ounce of strength I had to the top, riding down hill to Irvine it was very rocky and bumpy, ended up spraining a finger.
