Boa System Shoes with toe clips?

I rode with cb400bill Saturday. He was using SPD pedals with some Boa System shoes. His had two adjusters, but it got me to thinking that perhaps a single knob shoe (just one knob, no supplementary Velcro) might work with toe clips, cleats and straps. Has anyone tried this? If so, how did it work?
