What kind of bicycle ARE you?
I ride a slick little road bike.
However, if I were a bicycle, I'd be a steel, flat-bar bike from Nashbar in a neutral color. Kinda heavy, kinda cheap, robust, hopefully dependable. Oh, and my rear wheel would be slightly out of true.
Was thinking this might be too stupid to post. But would you prefer a Which Bike thread?

I'm not sure what bike I'd be, but I like the question. Indeed, it's more interesting and fun to think about than "should I buy X or Y?"
So I'll give it a shot.
I'd like to think I'd be not-too-old, not-too-new lightweight steel framed road bike. Racing Green, with alloy Athena components, and a dyno hub powering a set of penetrating lights.
More likely I'm a brown 80's vintage aluminum bike, a bit the worse for wear with beat up wheels, but little weathering and decent components. No lights, just reflectors, a flimsy bell, and a chain with a combination lock wrapped around the top tube.

Every one of you who didn't say you'd be a fat bike is lying.

I would be an all-arounder/adventure bike. Something like the Salsa Fargo. I wouldn't be spectacular at anything, and I wouldn't win any sprint outs, but I would be fun and verstatile, and up for anything.

A woman's bike. For obvious reasons.

I'm a little outdated, but not old, road bike. My previous owner just likes to keep with the times but can only keep one bike at a time. I also happen to be the lesser appreciated color of my make and model. I was kept well and cared for, but now I'm someone's favorite bike. The one they will prefer over the others for most rides, the one whose owner will pretend I'm a Tarmac or a Venge. I don't know it yet as I wait in an off the path bike garage run by an older man and his wife. I've made some good friends here.

I'd be the 20"-tire banana-seat green Ross I had when I was c. 10 years old!
Not the fastest bike in the world, but simple and sturdy! Always gets the job done; never changes; might not be flashy, but looks good to those who value it's charms. Nice paint in a pleasing color, which always looks new, and is kept clean and well cared for. Just enough chrome to catch the eye, but not be too flashy or ostentatious; Not your all-too-common Schwinn or Huffy- but something which is more unique; and the D-shaped handlebars further set it apart, so that even the casual onlooker can immediately see that this is something different. Never minded the stares; this is something you don't see everywhere, so get a good look!
