Suggestions sought on ‘71-‘74 Colnago paint polishing
Frame had some grime- got that off.
this one is the “electric blue”
( by the way, very close to Gios Blue)
sought to enhance the shine.
meguiers water spot remover has worked well on other frames to cut through age oxidation.
not hurting or helping here.
anyone with experience?
I know not a vast number out there -
why I mentioned the age range, brand, model.
making assumption that Colnago may have used a different brand than others and may have changed later.
thanks

Sometimes a scrub with dishsoap which many disagree with will help open things up.
As always proceed with caution, ymmv.
I was frustrated with the petrified grease/grunge on the 58 Paramount when I got it so I started with Simple Green, another big no, no and sure as heck, it splotched up pretty bad and I about had a heart attack, flooded with a ton of plain water, let it dry completely, still had to chisel off most of the grunge with wood sticks, paint cleared up mostly when it dried.
Then went after it with the cut cleaner and all was fine, turned out great for 60 year old paint.

I have used Scratch-X with pretty good results, followed by a couple coats of Collinite fleet wax.
I also have a ‘78 ish Mexico in electric blue.

Thanks - usually the Meguiar’s products work.
I may have to approach this as some Mercedes finishes, the clear coat on some is known to be softer than “American” paint.
I was able to remove the oil/dirt readily enough.
Jubilee Kitchen wax- not as good as it used to be but effective. Way back Shell Oil Company sold a furniture polish through service stations - in a gallon glass jar no less that was the quick and easy bike shop clean and shine. Long gone now.
yes, don’t like Simple Green.

Maybe this is a case for the clay bar?
I would try the medium cut cleaner on this, it always yields improvement.
