Seen on the street (FGSS 'spotted' thread)

I've seen 'spotted' threads in some of the other sub-forums on BikeForums but not here. I'll kick things off:

And... go!

Maybe it's just me, but I'd never lock up a shiny naked carbon bike like that out in public. I don't trust others to not bang it up when they're locking up their own bikes next to it.

The owner might only own one of those locks.

That seat looked pretty weathered IRL.. my guess he's probably taking his chances and hoping no one thinks it's nice enough to walk off with.

The seat might be cheaper than the wheels.

Most bikes I have encountered have either been delivery bikes or s----y mail order fixed gear bikes.

Here's one I encountered today, but with an interesting twist:

Not a fancy bike by any means (I think it's a San Jose), but it's the first one I've 'spotted' in awhile that doesn't suck.

This lock job is really dumb. If you are going to the trouble of locking the rear wheel up with a U-lock, why not also lock the frame AND rear wheel to the bike rack? This guy has 3 U-locks and basically the same protection as a guy using 1. Also, why don't you super glue some ball bearings in the Allen bolt heads of the front rack instead of U-locking it? $10 solution to a 5c problem.

All valid points, but I think the objective here has been achieved - no one is going to attempt to steal the bike, probably - however imperfectly that plan was implemented.
