Tool for Bottom Bracket Tool?
Does anyone make a tool that will hold a bottom bracket tool in place so you can put a lot of torque on it without worrying about it slipping off the cup? I imagine a long bolt and a couple washers might work, but I'd just assume buy a proper tool if someone makes one.

Pedro's had one moving around, var sells some tools with their counterpart that do exactly what u are asking.
If the BB is squared tapper the only thing u need is a quick release for example.

yes there is depending on what type of BB you have.
I believe the best one was made by either VAR or Bicycle Research or Stien

The Stein Cup Wrench Clamp looks nice, too. I had in mind some tool design that didn't require the bottom bracket to be in place, but I suppose that's not a big deal.

Here is the homemade version but I was trying to remove a crossed adj cup so it was a bit tricky.

AH IC, but they are called FIXED cups for a reason. normally unless you are replacing it it should not be removed.

There is a tool that uses the end of the square taper axle to hold down the fixed cup wrench
on cup and cone BB.
Its better on Customer's bikes to not screw them up repairing them..

I just keep a couple 8MM BOLTS (from NAPA) of different lengths (to cover different length spindles) and a fender washer to screw into the end of the spindle.
(Square taper type spindle)
bolts are about 1-5/8" and 2" long and work with my Park BBT-22 tool. YMMV.

this method may work cartridge style BB and this tool but not for the Fixed cup on an 'cup and cone' style BB. for an older style fixed cup you need something to take up the space between the end of the spindle and the wrench. hence the need for the cup

+1 On an old style cup and spindle bb, a large bench vise can work, or the solution posted by BG. Sheldon Brown site goes into detail on the bolt/nut washer solution.
Shimano cartridge bb is much easier, just a bolt and washer to hold your socket in place, then a long open end wrench.

One caveat. Crank fixing bolts (and the bolt you need to hold a cartridge bottom bracket tool in place) are M8x1.0, not the more common M8x1.25. Be sure you get the correct thread pitch.

The guy at NAPA was trying to tel me it wasn't an 8mm bolt and I was insisting it was. He FINALLY looked in the "other" bin.
