Yessir, 40 @ the bottom and 60 at the summit. Epic morning and a great start to 2018. Lotsa surveys to take at the top from the cycling advocates. Thanks for being there!

I made the climb up southgate to Y in the early afternoon. (I did the Bears first and had no desire to keep climbing!) I forgot how much I really enjoy climbing Diablo.

The weather was perfect yesterday so I biked up to the summit, though I think I'd avoid doing it again on New Year's given all the traffic.

The weather was almost perfect, warm and not too windy. I think the trick to the car traffic is to go early. There was quite a bit of traffic coming in Northgate as I was passing the gate on the way out.

Looks pretty. Do you have a strava link for your ride? I've only dabbled offroad on diablo a few times, and every trail seems to go straight up.

Well dagnabit - there was me riding up Diablo on Jan 1 and I thought "wait, was that DiabloScott descending just then? Gee it's sure been a while since I was on BF".

And lo - you got me at 4:37-4:40 climbing in mismatched BBC kit and fluorescent boots that seemed appropriate when the ride started at 31-32F, yet not so much by the time we were at the top.

Beautiful day atop the mountain.

This was posted on the Benicia Bike club FB page. Anyone there to witness it?
"Sunday, Jan 14th for the "SHAMI 500!" Joe Shami (83 yrs young) is planning his 500th consecutive weekly ride up Mount Diablo! He has ridden up Mount Diablo every week for the last 9 yrs, 32 weeks regardless of the weather."

Yes, I did ride up and enjoy the festivities. Joe is an amazing

It was a really Foggy morning but climbing through Diablo Ranch and broke out into some glorious warm sunshine.

The weather above the fog was warm and clear.

That was quite the story. Glad the wind lessened up for Sunday.

I had to check because I thought The Mountain was closed for more than a week during the big fires and Joe might've had to fudge his statistics a little, but I couldn't find a 7-day period where a Summit ride was off limits.

Blizzard conditions up there this morning - I don't recommend anyone but the toughest of hardmen to attempt it.

Last Post for a while

To all, I had a bad crash and will be off the bike for a while. So if others want to take up the slack for a bit until I get back on the mountain and post some photos. Thanks

So I was out on an Mt Bike ride. When I had the most innocuous crash that really was costly in many ways.

I really think the technology they used to put me back together is pretty amazing.

First of which they put this inside the humous head so the screws will have something to attach to.

Then they plated the outside of it.

This is how it all comes together.

In a few months, I'll be back on the Mountain soon enough. Today I did my first livingroom trainer ride.
