Easy ride near Half Moon Bay
Hi. I am coming up from SoCal to do the Jensie Gran Fondo next week. Making a vacation out of it, so I'll be driving up Wednesday. I'd like to do an easy (taper) ride on Thursday morning in the HMB/San Mateo area. Maybe 25-30 miles and reasonably flat, doesn't have to be pancake flat, just want good legs for Saturday. Any recommendations? If anyone is free and wants to tag along, that would be welcome as well. Thanks in advance.

For a reasonably flat ride near Half Moon Bay, I suggest starting in Pescadero. The roads there are quiet with only gradual grades. The roads closer to Half Moon Bay tend to be hilly.
Here is a flat Pescadero 51-miler that I use an an endurance training ride. It's a loop with several out-and-backs to add to the mileage, so it can be shortened easily.
I might be able to get over to Pescadero next Thursday morning, if you want company on the ride.

That looks like a great ride, thanks. The boss lady is now thinking about a hike in the redwoods, so not sure I'll actually be riding on Thursday. But I will know early in the week what the plan is.

For redwoods, Purissima Creek Reserve is very close to Half Moon Bay.
And the trailhead is on a very nice biking road <wink>.

It looks like some redwood hiking and some kayaking are in in the cards, so no Thursday am ride for me. Tough life, I know. But that still looks like a great ride, so I'll keep it in mind. Thanks again.

Have a great time. It should be nice weather on the coast. Spare the Air days on the bay side of the mountains. Ick.
