1x10 Crankset
Hi,
I'm building up a Raleigh RXM to try out CX with. It is threaded for an English 68mm BB. I'd like to buy all new crankset components and am looking for the most versatility.
I will be running Shimano SLX shifter and RD with a Sunrace cassette. I'm a beginner and don't want to spend a ton, but would like something kinda nice.
What do you guys suggest? I'm leaning toward something with a replaceable spider but not sure.
Thanks,
Scott

A Sram 1X gxp crank or Shimano w/ Wolftooth 1X ring make the most sense to me.

I'm running an SLX derailleur and sunrace cassette. I've got a Campagnolo crank with a narrow wide ring.
Really anything will work.
I have 135bcd so have fewer options for narrow wide chainrings. Anything with 130 would probably have more availability.

I've used the SRAM Force1 1x crank with Shimano XTR rear derailleur / cassette / etc. It worked flawlessly. I used SRAM chains, but I doubt it mattered.

+1 any 110 BCD crankset would be great. I know wolf tooth makes 1x chain rings from 34 teeth to 52 in 2 tooth increments for 110 BCD. You should be able to find the right gearing for just about any terrain with that range and an appropriate cassette.

Common Cyclocross 1 by, has been a Disc chain guard in place of a chainring for the outer
and a 'chain minder' or a inner disc chainguard, to keep the chain from coming off to the inside, on a road crank.
cassette 12-27, 42 t chain ring.. low gear is your feet,
getting off, throwing the bike on your shoulder and running, then jumping back on ..
keep your momentum up , or get lapped , by those who do..
gravel grinders I suppose* don't have course barriers set up to force
a dismount, remount , at speed..
*none around here..
