I don't like to think that I am old, but I do remember sitting in front of the TV watching the moon landing.

As purchased last summer.
And as it sits now. Early 70's Peugeot PR-10. Seat tube has nice laid back geometry. Great relaxed position on this bike. Jam up, and jelly tight!

Didn't you have a Lightspeed before? I'm curious about the difference in climbing on this bike to others you've had. Also, have you had it on any of the really crappy roads we have? I'm wondering if a Domane would make me happy.

What I can relate about this bike, even compared to the 4.3, is that it's smoother and far more sure footed. It soaks up a lot of road noise (think: Yerba before the recent redo). It's not really a suspension bike so not that kind of ride. It's lively and when it gets up to mid 20 MPH, it seems to want to go faster. Climbing is pretty good and the downhills are nice.
From what I hear, the 2020's are slightly heavier but very good. Advertised weight for mine is about 17-1/2 unloaded.
What I did was ride my 4.3 to the Trek shop in Westlake, then take out this bike for a demo, so that I had a really good comparison. The 4.3 wasn't bad itself but within a block of the shop, I immediately felt the differences. That was important to me as I didn't want to be spending top dollar for an almost similar machine. The 4.3 and SLR have pretty much identical geometry/measurements so clearly, something really improved in my experience. It's a great bike.
Danny or Jeremy at the shop can set up a demo for you. Store was pretty busy when I was there last week. They did have a 2019 SLR9 on sale I noticed.

My wife picked up that exact Roubaix in the dusky blue color just as the lock down closed in on us. 2020 was designated new bike year, and she had rented that exact bike when we were in Maui, so she knew exactly what she wanted.

Fully Custom Waterford R-33. Road weapon. Elegant artisan crafted frame with no-nonsense parts. It rides beautifully, climbs exceptionally well, and is a rock solid descender.
2020 Specialized Tarmac Pro Force eTap AXS. Crit weapon. It's stiff, and marginally lighter weight than the Waterford, and handling is optimized for hard cornering and sudden line changes.
2020 Salsa Journeyman 700c Apex. Gravel Machine. A ton of fun.
Old Trek Madone...It makes a good trainer bike, and I like the external cable routing.

Normally I ride road/gravel bikes. When cleaning out my Mom's garage after she passed I came across my old banana seat bike from junior high. I hadn't ridden it since I got my first 10-speed in 1974. My younger brothers beat the crap out of it until it was non-functional (the Shimano 3-speed hub was toast). It was an American Flyer that probably came from the hardware store. The smart thing to do would be toss it. So of course I decided to put it back together. I assure you, each individual step of the process cost more than the bike cost new. I'm still waiting for a couple of parts to come in the mail and there are a couple of bits I'm going to swap out but I got it rideable for The Blind Lizard picnic this weekend and managed the 20 mile round trip with relative ease. Luckily between BMX and the Mexican Lowrider bicycle craze there are a lot of parts available for putting something like this back on the street. I installed a 1-piece to 3-piece conversion and now it has a nice BMX crank. You'll notice the layback seatpost is in there backwards. I'm almost a foot taller than I was back then. The extended seatpost put me so far back I couldn't keep the front wheel on the ground. The wheels were built up by a Brompton mechanic friend. The new hub is a Sturmey-Archer AW. The neighbor kids really like it.

I ride a BH Ultralight carbon. Not a common bike around these parts which I actually like. I live in a hilly area and this bike climbs really well. A little squirrelly on downhill but from what I gather it is in the hills that this bike really shines. I am somewhat new to riding so as time goes by I will be upgrading the components.

Recently picked up a Scott Addict 10. Owned the Addict R1 a few years back and loved it. Unfortunately so did my son. Anyway, have always missed it wanted to replace it. Upgraded to the Atomik carbon tubeless with the Berd (polypropylene) spokes.

I’m 58. I ride a 1973 Raleigh Supercourse TT that I bought new in 1980. It was a leftover, new in the box, that a buddy who worked in a bike shop in Margate NJ sold me. Over the years I replaced the crank after I bent the original and the handlebars because I was starting to get some stiffness in my back. velofix came by today and thoroughly serviced it, and it rides great!
