Last year I bought a frameset I didn't need and probably couldn't justify, except that it was a near-littermate (see signature) of a bike I already had, which I thought was pretty cool, particularly since one is a decent repaint and the other is all-original.

If you want it, buy it! You know your financial situation better than any of us, but if it doesn't put you in a financial bind & it's ok with your significant other, collecting bicycles is a relatively inexpensive hobby. When I purchased my beautiful, pristine Mercian I don't know if I paid too much or not. I just wanted it so I paid up. Of course I'm the guy when asked what a lift ticket costs at a ski area can't answer because I don't remember. I need to ski so I pay & don't worry about it. Remember what Robin Williams said when asked about his collection of bicycles. "As I told my wife, less expensive then Ferraris."

I have many bikes and many dual turntables. I drove 200 miles to get a dual1009sk out of an old console. I thought i was crazy at the time. While reading this post i am listening to duke ellington on that table. I do not regret doing things i can afford to do that are fun and harm no one.

I posted it in the ebay/craigs thread over two weeks ago, and it's still for sale.

When/if you pass and have a case of remorse you will spend more time trying to find the same bike/thing that you passed on the first time...trust me I know, life is too short to worry about a few dollars.
Best, Ben

There are too many people to multi-quote.

YOU ENABLERS MADE ME DO IT !!!

Will post the seller’s pics.***
Saving my more detailed pics for another thread.

I bid over $400 for this frame and fork more than a year ago. Seller ignored my bid at the time. This time patience paid.

frame is a perfect 60X58cm ctc.
Would like another cm of headtube but that can be dealt with.

Thanks again = to C&V enablement.

Someone more qualified than I will have to say if it's 'Hard to Find in your size' or 'Rare'.
Rickert, perhaps from ~1959. More research needed. Apparently belonged to brother of Ted Ernst (fwiw).

*** pics from seller's Jan2019 CL ad - when the asking was stupidly high.

Wheels for display only

Classic Rickert seat stay caps

Hahaha -

You guys kill me sometimes!
Already a text from a BF friend =
“Posting CL pics is not Proof of Ownership”.

so here’s one pic taken in a place you have all seen my bikes pictured.

No head badge - will have to remedy that!

Come ON! Look at those little wheels brazed on for the BB cable routing!?! That right their is worth a hunert or hunert-fity!
What it cost to have that built up custom for you now? They don’t make 531, except for special orders, you’d have to get those lugs cut and filed...
That their is Craftsmanship with a Capitol CRAFT.

I just picked up a Raleigh International frame. The fork chrome is all but gone, but the copper paint’ll clean up. The heart wants what the heart wants.

Love that frame.
