Gorgeous re-paint and super cool head-badging.

I really like the wrap of the seat stays on the seat lug. Don't see that very often.

That is cool. Worksop is home of the Raleigh/ Carlton factory.

I suspected a Raleigh or Carlton connection due to the Worksop head badge - a visit to Classic Rendezvous confirmed this.

Reminds me of the Carlton Catalinas of the mid-60s (maybe others) with the Capella lugs.

Did Raleigh or Carlton buy Sun at one point or something? Because a lot of the stylistic cues (overlooking the Worksop point) are very similar.

EDIT: Aaaaannnd @Whit51 beat me to the punch. Thanks for the xtra legwork!

The frame itself is quite a piece of work, but the colors and quality of the repaint, just my opinion, not so good.

Yes Raleigh did acquire Sun. When Raleigh acquired Carlton all higher end production was moved to the Carlton Worksop plant including the Sun brand. You’re correct, that’s why the Capella lugs.

Agreed, the paint, to me, looks a bit heavy. Still, a beautiful frame. No harm In repainting a repaint if someone were looking for an interesting project.

And lots of orange peel everywhere. I can't tell if they didn't bother to clean between sprays, didn't bother to wetsand their base coat between sprays, didn't bother to wetsand the clear between sprays, or all the above. If you look at the long shot front-to-rear on the head tube, it literally looks like someone shot paint on a tubular orange.

Colors are great, but it's sloppy paint work. And it's really rough on the head tube, you can see dirt and/or brush strokes around the head badge.

PS @79pmooney check out the fork on the bike linked in the 1st post. I'm pretty sure this pre-dates my new CB. Whether or not it pre-dates CB using it is another story...

Fork ends have rectangular cutouts for "lawyer clips" - not a feature current at time of frame manufacture.

Makes me wonder if fork not a Formosan product, despite presence of lamp boss.

Snipe is a type of wading shore bird - similar to a sandpiper.

I noticed how out of place it looked, looks like a Phoenix fork someone swapped out on one of the PH10s I bought a few years back, but the presence of that fork braze-on was typical for the mid-60s in UK.

Thinking fork might be a RAMPAR or similar replacement item produced for UK market.

Note pattern of crown.

One name I was thinking of is Akisu.

Would be interesting to be able to read markings on steerer...

Yes, patently obvious that the fork is a relatively modern cheap one, with non matching fork crown, rusty chrome, and lawyer lip tabs.

Due to its similarities to a Catalina, it would be fun to discover if the headtube lugs were chromed(as some Catalina’s were) under the repaint. Probably not though. I’m also wondering if a fork from an early Super Course would be a more appropriate replacement, if so it likely wouldn’t be too difficult to find one. I’m not really considering buying this frame however, but it’s fun to speculate what one might do.
