I seem to have lost my login there, and repeated emails (via the links) have gone unanswered...

The place seems to be dead. Can't upload photos, no reply from admins.

Bugger.

Is there another site like it?

Last time I was there, it had outrageously invasive ads- all trucks and guns. Irony of a certain way.

Funny you mention that; sort of the same thing happened to Loose Screws a few years ago: new owners of the site sold off all the bike parts & made it totally pro-NRA (by that I mean, overtly jingoistic) & small parts for firearms.

I just thought the guy who bought it liked bikes and REALLY liked guns. Eventually he sold the entire load of bike stuff to someone, and kept Loose Screws as a gun site.

He has an 85 Trek 620 that he really likes, so that's cool. Just not thrilled as that store filled a very particular niche.

Ahh. So that's how it went. I wasn't aware of the back-stage mechanics of the thing, I'd only heard that he retired & sold off the lot; lock, stock, and (two smoking?) barrels to somebody else.

The way I understood it (can't claim it's true) was the bike guy sold it to another guy who was a bike guy but became a gun guy. No?

Did Loose Screws become biketoolsetc.com, or are they two separate entities?

That's the way I'm aware of it- the husband and wife (Jeff and Jean G.) retired and sold the business to Steve A., Steve operated for a few years, then sold all the bike stuff to someone else, kept the Loose Screws name and now just uses it as a gun site.

They are separate, but at one point, the same designer built their web sites.

Necrobump. Anyone know anything more about Velospace? I can see not wanting to pay the server costs anymore, but hopefully they still have all the photos stored somewhere, so that someone else may be able to archive it.
