Wrong thread.

You want the "Here's the obvious choice" thread.

I could be wrong, but I'm thinking if the team time trial results cause a yellow jersey change, it goes to the first team member over the finish line.

I think your right. They could make sure that Horner crosses first but that probably won't happen. They have to make sure of the win before they worry about who's in yellow.

Actually, I'm wrong. It would be the team member with the lowest overall time going into the team trial, because he'd have the lowest individual time after the team time trial (assuming his team won and he was with the group, not dropped).

But I'm not *totally* wrong, because a lot of riders have the same time (0:06). So, in that case, pretty sure it'd be the first one across the line.

ETA: I *am* wrong again--see following post.

The TTT time based on the 5th rider that crosses the line. All members of the team get the same time, regardless of position in the line. If there were two members on that team that would be in contention for the yellow jersey, it would go to whomever was placed higher in the overall in stage 1. If Radio Shack were to win the TTT by a margin that would give a team member the lead, it would go to Kloden, who placed 7th after stage 1. Horner placed 9th, Levi 38th, Brajkovic 39th, Popovych 55th, all 6 seconds down.

Horner flatted today and then used a lot of energy to work his way back up towards the front of the peloton. He arrived back near the front at the bottom of the final climb just in time for the attacks to begin (according to the interview). Horner fell off the lead climbers and lost eight seconds. Horner may have hung with those guys if he hadn't used up so much energy to just get back to the front after the flat.

Horner interview: https://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/228251...42221#43642221

Kloden finished with the lead group; he is now fifth place overall and has an eight second lead over Horner, Leipheimer and Brajkovic.

It's very unfortunate. He looked to be in great shape. I think winning was out of the question. But top 10 was a definite possibility.

Probably always was.

Oh, well if nothing else this is a good enough excuse to abandon all hope.

Maybe I'll feel better if I do...

That is sad.
They interviewed him before the stage asking if he should be the team leader now that he's up on Levi and he said "no way".

In a perverse coincidence, this is good for my betting pool so if I win the bottle of Kronenbourg I'll toast Mr. Horner with it.

Sorry Guys-
I started a new thread but I should have put this here-

Damn! Get Chris off the bike and keep him off for at least a few weeks. He obviously has a serious concussion. It's just not responsible to risk serious long lasting brain injury by being out there. Johan says he was confused even on the radio, and he should have yanked him then. Maybe the culture in pro cycling is to tolerate these sorts of concussions, but that is just going to have to change.
It looks like other sports like hockey and college football are really becoming a lot smarter about how serious concussions are. Pro cycling needs to get with it on this issue.

Go over to podium Cafe and check out the video of Chris coming in not knowing where he is- It's scary
Then they talk to Johan about talking with the confused Chris into the finish. That's where I think Johan should be criticized, not getting him off when he realized he was confused.
