Indexing at the derailleur -- what's old is new?
I was reading a writeup on the new Rotor Uno hydraulic groupset. Truly wild stuff. Uses hydro lines instead of cables for the derailleurs. Rotor Uno: First ride review | Cyclist
What struck me was that the indexing functions are at the derailleur, not in the shifter. Didn't Suntour have a couple derailleurs that worked that way?

Shimano positron with the single-strand wire did indeed have the index by the derailer.
As did Sachs Commander.
Positron might have been more successful if they hadn't used markings on the shift lever - which never lined up to which gear the chain was on.
