Fathers' Day in SF!

This is from the SF side (of the Golden Gate) looking east towards the Marina.

This is from the Marin headlands (north of GG) looking back at the city.

This is also in the headlands. There were various forts and weapons installations around the Golden Gate to defend against an attack by sea. This cannon sure seems to be pointing in the wrong direction.

In Poultney, VT. I was in Rutland for a meeting and rode the Delaware and Hudson Rail-Trail from Castleton, VT to the NY border.

Atlanta

Enjoyed two long rides in/around Atlanta on a business trip. 30 mile round trip out to Stone Mountain. First time I have encountered a concrete bike path (Stone Mountain path). Because of settling between the concrete pieces I was hitting bumps every other second. If you go bring a bike lock, I had to lug my bike about halfway up when I took this photo.

The second photo is the Jimmy Carter museum. Saw that on the east and freedom bike paths along with the botanical garden.

Today I took the Hooligan for a 1:15 minute ride around BKK airport's 23.5KM track. I'm OK with the time since I had 5 liters of water, lock, bags, snacks...and it was 99°F because I rode in the afternoon.

where is the bike track at Suvarnabhumi? I’ve been intending to do it since it was completed, on the Brompton which accompanied me. May take the Janssen on the next visit, it’s sitting in a shed doing nothing here

Awsome. I know exactly where that first image is. I may be taking an overnight sleeper train (with my foldie) from there in a few weeks.

Be safe out there,...heat stroke can KILL.[/QUOTE]

I've heard some people have died there; maybe an urban legend or it happened awhile back if slow kids were hit by fast TT riders. Now there is a hospital center there, and added a dedicated purple fast lane; so collisions would be unlikely. There are 3 full bathroom break areas along the track so unless you can't ride ~6KM without water its very safe. I drank less than 3 liters but brought 5 since I don't like unknown quality tap water. 3 emergency trucks passed me when I was riding but they were empty; just cruising for people in trouble.

The track is on the NorthEast corner of the airport lands. Everything is free: the track, car parking, and you even get a free energy drink and water at the end of the ride. The first visit you need to bring your passport to get the free RFID bracelet to enter the track. No one can bring fluids in disposable bottles or cans onto the track to prevent littering. So you have to use cycling bottles, hydration bladders, or drink bathroom tap water. Any bike will do; lots of MTBs, young kids on department store bikes and I personally rode a 4.5" wide fatbike there.

@ttakata73:

Very interesting! I've noticed this bike path before (can't remember whether was out the window landing/taxiing or from an AOT limo) and wondered what the deal was.

I wouldn't mind doing a loop or two on one of my trips.

PS: Did you ever see any cobras on your rides (given the old name for the area)?

A bit more into drop bars / road bikes these days, but started out with Brompton -> Tern Verge X20 -> Moulton SST and one thing kind of lead to another.

Still have them all and they all get some use when and where appropriate. Brompton lugged all my stuff down the hill to the laundry this morning!

Excited to get the bike out into warmer weather (spinning class is boring) in Los Angeles on a work trip-the climb up Mt. Hollywood Dr was well worth the view!
