Crashed my folder

I hit a medium size dog square in its ribs yesterday. I was on my 20" folding bike traveling at about 20mph. I spent the rest of the day in the ER. Lots of lost details after the collision. After 7 hours, I still have cobwebs on the brain. Luckily, I was wearing a Smith hat with MIPS. More of the story later with comments on wearing a helmet. FWIF, I am about to turn 69.

The bike and helmet are at the sheriff's office and I hope to recover them today. Don't know about the dog - but it was T-boned.

Wow, that's scary stuff.... glad to hear you survived - any kind of tumble in your senior years is very serious... esp at speed! I'm younger than you but at point where any injury is now turning out to be a permanent ailment.

Animals scare more than cars as they are totally unpreditable. As a motorcyclist, I've hit 3 deer and 1 dog (went down twice/stayed upright twice) and 2 yrs ago, 3 deer ran around me (2 in front, 1 behind), while riding my folder ~13mph on a bike trail in the middle of DC!

Get well soon.

Hope you're okay fitlerbend. I had a similar dog collision 20 years ago. I ended up in the ER and my helmet had a fist-sized chunk broken out of it. The police asked if they could keep it for their school bike safety classes.
