Yes, it's too clean. I'll try to remedy that this weekend.
While sorting through over a decade's accumulation of bike parts and gear, I ran across my never-used Thudbuster seatpost... it was the right size for my Montague, so what the heck.... Not like a few extra grams (give or take) is gonna make much difference here. I did have to order the firm/firm pucks, and just installed them a few minutes ago. Then wheeled around the house to try it out. Feels ok, but I guess I need rougher terrain to really *test* it. I'll go back to front susp at some point, but will save up for something halfway decent.

Maybe upgrade the drivetrain too... or at least limit the front to double and change the chainring sizes out, wider range rear... you know...

Oh you mean vs. the Riyadh thing? Nah, I've had this Dahon for about a year now. I spend just too little time in Riyadh to keep my own bike over there; with my current work schedule, I've got only Monday evenings open to get in a couple of hours' riding, and for that I can just rent a decent bike from the nearby LBS, for the equivalent 15 bucks or so. In the future they might either have me stationed in Jeddah permanently (which would be awesome ) or ask me to work out of HQ in Riyadh at all times, which would require us - or me, at least - to actually move there (which I'm not exactly crazy about, really ) So, we'll see.

Sorry, right, I got confused with the cities. $15 for a few h is rather stiff. I normally try to keep the rental down to about $10/day, but I did pay significantly more on an occasion for a higher standard bike, than one I ride everyday.

The $15 is for an entire 24 hours, actually - it's either that or about $13/h, so...

And if I decide to ride every Monday for a month, $60/mo in bike-riding expenditure is easier to live with than spending many times more for a bike, new or used. Given how iffy the situation is right now, this is the easiest way to go about it for now.

Rode my Swift from the interior of British Columbia home to Vancouver Island. One of my favourite sections of the trip was the 135km between Princeton B.C. and Hope over the Cascade Mountains on the "Crowsnest Highway". It was a lovely road with good climbing, light traffic and some of the best descents I've ever ridden. It was a treat after spending a couple days tackling the same mountains on dirt back roads and trails.

Nice bikes, @ridey b

I have your twenty's older little brother with the same plaid carrier bag. Neat to see another in use in the wild!

Xootr Swift - this one is a real workhorse

This Xootr pulls both a Thule trailer and a BOB trailer regularly, usually loaded up and for 15+ miles per ride. And it does it at a pretty good clip! Who would have thought it'd make sure a good trailer puller.

Dahon Speed D8 converted from derailleur 8 speed to IGH 8 speed. I really like the Alfine 8 speed hub. A very smooth runner with reliable shifting.

In the Poconos

I was at the Skytop Lodge in the Poconos for a conference but still found time for a 25 mile ride this morning. It was in the 30's when I left but got up to 50. Beautiful fall day.
