Correct that there is not currently a lot of interest in recumbent bikes among the general cycling population. Seems true too for BF participants. Don’t know how well the BF classifieds work for selling bikes. Looks as if only one bike is currently posted in the Recumbent for sale section at the top of this forum. I never look at either BF classified section. I already have a LWB bike and am not looking for another. The lack of a viable ER company may factor in to difficulties in selling an ER bike. Have you checked out the Bentrider classifieds?

I can't even find your posting. Did you remove it? How long was it up? Or was it even posted on this site?

It's in For Sale in the Marketplace section: https://www.bikeforums.net/sale/
Not in the classifieds at the top of this Recumbent forum.

You might try a more recumbent specific forum, like bentrider. I think you have to pay to join (only if you want to list something for sale), but it's much more active in terms of the marketplace and people buying and selling.
Recumbents tend to be a bit specialized, so you should be prepared to ship your bike if you need to in order to make the sale.

Speaking strictly for myself, I already have 5 recumbents. N+1 is alive and well, but I'm trying to avoid D-1 for now.

I think you are asking too much. Based on what I see them seemingly selling for on FB Marketplace and Craigslist, even with fairing, you're not likely to get more than a grand for a GRR. Problaby more like 750 or 800-ish.

I had a recumbent for a while and when I stopped using it, I could not even give it away. I think people who want them, buy them. They don't shop around.

Easy Racers has closed it's doors for good, as far as I can tell. I think this is making a lot of possible buyers a little shy on buying their bikes no matter how close to new they are. You'll have to give it time. bk

There's not much choice of tires to be found in ISO 520 or ISO 451 wheels, as I've found. Too, the V-Rex pictured is missing its rear brake.

Not to worry, remember almost everything runs in cycles. Many things can affect what people ride. It is probably the first group of riders that started out on LWB bents that have gone to trikes. A new group of people that discover bents are bound to come along, and dont want to go directly to trikes.
Tho not recumbents, remember how after the 84 Olympics, and the Coors Classic cycling got a huge boost. So who knows what might trip the trigger on wanting to go to LWB bents.
Then too, trikes may just be getting a lot more press, when in fact many of us still have a LWB bent, and continue to ride it. Yes I ride my trike around town since it is just plain easier, but on club ride out of town I take my LWB.

I think "endurance" geometry, fat tires and mainstream adoption of easy gearing have solved some of the problems that pointed folks toward recumbents even a few years ago. Now, if someone needs a 'bent they'll likely go all the way to the stability of a trike. That's my plan for whenever it becomes necessary

“Is LWB recumbent popularity dying?” In my area I’d say yes. The last Portland Sunday Parkways I did this year I saw the local recumbent club people I used to be a member of now are now riding recumbent trikes and all but one had E-assist as well. There must have been close to ten of them all together climbing the Broadway Bridge.
The bike shop I bought four recumbent bikes from and had them serviced at have new owners and a new name. They only sell recumbent trikes no two wheelers at all! I did see one used HP Grasshopper leaning on the side of the wall, when I ask about it the owners husband was there and said it was his personal bike. I asked if I could test ride it as it was just the bike I was looking to buy. I was told no rides but he could order me one if I wanted. He said “But again no test ride it’s my personal bike.” I said “thank you, you just saved me $3,590 dollars.” I have never been back.

I have recurring balance problems and was going to sell all my bikes including my 2 wheel lwb recumbent. Some days ago I was looking around on Amazon and found training wheels' bike stabilizers' for adults. I should get them next week. I'm going to start out on my trusty old beach bike, but it may be that such accessories may blow a breath of fresh air into 2 wheel lwb bike sales or for that matter any 2 wheel recumbent.
As far as test riding, no one gets to ride my personal bikes. And of course there is the now famous story of the guy who test rode a $5,000 bike at a shop and didn't come back.

Most people with balance problems opt for a trike. It has fewer negative impressions than using a set of training wheels and is probably more fun.
I let quite a few people test ride my two wheeled recumbents. My Linear LWB was particularly easy for someone to hop on and get used to the handling in a short distance. The short wheelbase Haluzak Horizon was a bit more difficult. No one ever crashed either bike. It happens though. Another friend let someone try his Streetmachine and they crashed it within about 100 feet. No damage to the bike but the rider was hurting for a while.

I've had trikes, maybe will again. But I have several bikes and am hoping that as I build strength I can remove the training wheels. It actually happened last year that I rode the trike I had and then was able to ride my bicycles. Sold the trike. Didn't ride much during the summer and am back at square 1.
