That is a curious sight - what on earth is it? I guess it is a "dead" factory but what did it produce and where is it please? I am also wondering why nobody has dismantled it yet.

it's an old refinery, now the centerpiece in Gasworks Park. There's a killer view of Seattle from that park

You guys have doing some great riding. Hard to keep up with it when I'm not home and have only a smaffone screen to view it on.
My sweetie and I just returned home from two weeks on Mt. Desert Island, the location of Acadia National Park. We rode the tandem around the Park Loop Road, posted in the Tandem Forum. Then a few days later I rode up Cadillac Mt. and around the PLR.
At the start:
At the Eagle Lake overlook:
Overlooking Bar Harbor, a pic I've taken on all my other rides. The tiny smudge just this side of the center island is a huge cruise liner. The smudge to its right is a 4-masted excursion schooner.
Near the top of Cadillac Mt. I took this pic because it's another one I've taken on every other ride I've done up Cadillac. There isn't much to see!

My sweetie hiked up and met me at the top, then took this pic. I look like a grumpy old man. Actually I'm just trying to stay warm. This whole ride alternated being sweaty hot and really wet and cold!
The run down Cadillac, about 30sec faster than the last time I did this video.

My wife and I were there June 2 to 10. I sometimes take a bike but didn't this trip.
Acadia is so much fun we didn't even mind that last Mon and Tues it rained and was in the 40's all day.

FL today, but moving to Lancaster PA, where to ride?
Typically ride the neighborhood here in Tampa (Seminole Heights) to downtown and waterfront/riverwalk area. Tampa is finally (slowly) becoming more bike friendly with new bike lanes and a ride-share/rental program.
I have a couple vintage cruisers that are comfortable and fun to ride with another person (or solo).
However, I will likely be moving into the Lancaster PA area and curious if there are any organized rides there? It is a beautiful part of the state and I can envision riding about 8 months/year there.
Any suggestions are welcome!

Posted a more detailed ride summary over in Long Distance here.
In brief, Saturday I rode my first 200K in southern Wisconsin.
128 miles, 4200' climbing.
There were some serious struggles, but I managed to make it through somehow. Immediately after the ride I was thinking to myself that I never want to do that again, but after a few days my thoughts have shifted more towards "I want to try and do a ride like that better than the last time." So we will see...

Our trips overlapped! We were there for two weeks, may have passed you on a trail somewhere.
Maine beer? Ayup. Had dinner a few times at Mainely Meat in Town Hill, which happens to be on the grounds of Atlantic Brewery. So their beer is fresh and locally brewed. Like, really locally.
Yeah, there were a few cold days and some steady rain, but that just makes it more of an adventure. Two weeks in a tent makes one appreciate central heating and indoor plumbing.

On Sunday, rode from Cedar Falls to the Snoqualmie Pass tunnel, about 36m round trip. Unfortunate timing as there was a marathon taking place and the trail was quite busy.

This afternoon I rode the Foothills Trail from Buckley to Orting, about 25m. I haven't been here since they did all the new trail work, great leisure ride with scenery to match.

Strong Brewing just a few miles south of Blue Hill is very good too. We went over there and explored the area a bit on one of the rainy days.

An hour on the indoor trainer, first time on a bike in a month since I was hit by a car and ended up with a borked shoulder. Put the Centurion Ironman on a Cycleops trainer I got from a friend. Spot checked my heart rate now and then. Seems to be in the appropriate zones, but I might have to get a proper monitor. Shoulder still a bit achy and crunchy but I can avoid too much pressure by balancing on the top of the bar just using my left hand. Sure beats the walking I've been substituting for bike rides the past month. Probably be another month before I'm ready for a road ride.

The rivers in this area are so clear, I've spent so much time riding near glacial fed streams (milky white water) that the clear water was a change.
Relatively new bridge for the hikers.
Put away your phones - it's nature out here that controls the sounds.
The moss carpet in this section reminded me of the Olympic Peninsula rain forests.
Green is the most multitudinous color on Earth. Thank God.
With a short ride around town, probably 35 miles.
Good to be alive in the great PNW - ride on!

Went to the field of poppies where the old Royal Flying Corps (predecessor of the RAF) apron used to be.
The silver roof in the distance is the Main Museum hangar.
If you look carfully just above the Brooks B17 you can see an old WW1 biplane on final approach. A Hurricane came later but I was on the road already

I'd not actually planned it, but I rode my age again yesterday. I drove up into MA on Monday to camp in the Granville State Forest. Lovely and quiet, except for the bear patrolling at 2:00am. Did not take any interest in me though.
Put on all the layers I had yesterday morning as it was down into the 40s. Packed up and drove to Westfield, MA to the head of the Columbia trail. First I walked over to the Good Table restaurant. The cute waitress explained that the "blueberry crisp" pancakes were blueberries, oatmeal, brown sugar and cinnamon. As they say: to die for. Awesome fuel for the day.
The Columbia Greeway passes the original Columbia Bicycle plant before you seemlessly link to the Southwick trail then the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail. A JEWEL of a trail series. All nicely paved and shaded. Flying thru the woods, passing planted field, nurseries, orchards. The trail goes thru two towns that have done a fine job with signage so you don't get lost. As I reached the south end of the Farmington trail (Red Oak Hill road) I found that it actually keeps going. 'OK, it's s great cycling day and if I just pile on a few more miles I could ride my age today.' So I continued until my lil angel said 34 miles then turned.
Tail winds going back north, another beautiful ride and the lil angle (trip computer) said 67 miles with I reached the car. And I felt great. Perfect weather, perfect machine (1974 Crescent Pepita 92319) and a great trip through the countryside. This trail series is just a JEWEL of a ride. I don't know why I've not seen any posts here about this before. Go do this, now.
