Chris, the cobblestone hairpins, frustrating is the word that comes to mind, but as you say, at least not wet cobblestones...
Re bled, I don't know about in France, but here in Quebec you'll hear the term, un petit bled, about a really small village, but who knows if the French word had anything to do with this towns name or not.

Every lane is a bike lane
I wasn't aware of the French expression. I've been to France three times, I really should have paid more attention. As for the town of Bled, not many people know that Slovenian is a language in it's own right. I suspect it may be derived locally, but who knows.

Still feeling like crap, and Croatia came right before Slovenia, so it's that time again. What I found amazing was just how different these countries were, despite both being part of the old Yugoslavia for so long. They even have their own languages!
The old part of Zagreb.
Cleanest waters I've ever seen in Croatia. More so even than New Zealand. Great for a spontaneous swim on a hot day, which I did on more than one occasion.
Plitvice Lakes.
The Velebit mountains provided the views. The treacherous dirt road 5km earlier eliminated the traffic. Now I had this 22km descent to myself.
Cres was my favourite of the Croatian Islands, because of it's dramatic scenery. This is the village of Lubenice.
So many of these charming seaside village on clear waters. I could post 100 of them. This is Valun
How could you stay out of the water?
Most people skip the Istrian interior, and they miss so much. This is Motovun, and the truffle pizzas here are awesome.

Certainly looks like a pretty neat area. These photos confirm what I've heard about here, and seen in other photos.
Cheers

Different websites offer different things, it's what makes the world turn.
My Best Sleeping Spot Aguila after about 90 miles through the desert. No Shower available when I pulled into a fire station staffed by off site firmen. I drank a liquid dinner and climbed up on the hoses with a sleeping bag. I could look out to the far distance and see lightning strikes. Great day and Night
