Is this a Puch?

Found this on CL this evening, and it sure looks like a Puch, or some European made frame. Definitely not a Free Spirit, with outlined lugs, etc. Looks like Simplex derailleur, or are my eyes deceiving me?,,,,,BD

Free Spirit "Greenbriar" I like the color etc, and a nice set of bars and a leather saddle could help.

And yes I am trying to convince him the fork is bent. If I buy it I can deal with it later. Latest info is that the stem says Japan. The plot thickens.,,,,BD

The crank wheel and frame is similar to my Austrian made Iverson, which was also badged and sold as a Free Spirit by Sears back in the 70's.

Close, but the upper ends of your stays go up further? Fork crown is way different, too. Not insulting yours, it's a sweet looking bike! Anyone else know who made this Greenbriar bike?,,,,,BD

Both frames look like Steyr-Daimler-Puch builds to me, which is consistent with Sears' historic relationship with S-D-P and with the Iverson's Made in Austria decal. In sheer export volume, S-D-P was always the dominant Austrian framebuilder, producing up to 100k units per year, although everyone on C&V should by now know who the best Austrian builder was, albeit at peak production of a mere 5k units per year.

Is that a cotterless steel 128mm BCD Nervar Sport crankset on the Greenbriar? I like the color, which is pretty close to a traditional Raleigh or British racing green.

I'm not sure what the cranks are. Nervars would sound good to me. Better than Taiwan or old school China anyways. They didn't respond after I sent them a pic with lines, showing how the fork was bent. I guess I ticked him off or something.,,,,BD
