i wish i had known about those exercise mats. Would have bought a whole bunch of them and placed it over the carpeting in my studio. The carpet has been irreparably stained with bike grease... Otoh, i foresee the need of maybe 15-20 2' x 2' pieces, which may end up costing more than the security deposit...

As mentioned previously, I have a bad back. It tends to get progressively worse over the course of a few weeks. At some point I relent and take Aleve, maybe once every 2-4 weeks, which seems to help a lot not just in reducing pain but by reducing swelling or something, which sort of resets the timer and gives me a new couple of weeks.
Any of you guys exercise on NSAIDs? The googles say not to, so I usually don't, but sometimes I do.

I have done quite a bit of cross country classic skiing including skiing in the Finnish lapland north of the arctic circle. My skiing has been limited to tracked trails and although aerobic, not technically difficult. However, I have tried skate skiing and took a lesson a couple of years ago in Park City, UT. It was very hard technically and aerobically. I can do it but it is pretty pitiful.
Near Deer Valley, UT, there is a biathlon course built for the Olympics. My wife and I scheduled a session there where you ski and shoot. We never did it due to snow and poor visibility but it is on our list. Maybe this will be the year.
